after discovering that bellamy had tossed the radio in a river, a bunch of people from the camp were sent to help find it. when it was found raven said it was too wet to try and get communication right away, so she resulted in making missles and shooting them off so that people on the ark could see and call off killing three hundred people for no reason.

"can you make a wish on this kind of shooting star?" clarke asks as kodie sipped her cup of moonshine.

bellamy answers, "i wouldn't know what to wish for." kodie watches as clarke's eyes trail over to where finn and raven stood, finn's arm draped over the girl's shoulder and her arm around his waist. the blue eyed brunette stepped away from everyone and headed towards the gate. a hand grabbed her arm and she turned to see bellamy. "where are you going?"

"for a walk." she eyes him. "is that a problem or am i not allowed to have the freedom that i had, had for three years anymore?" though she didn't really have freedom because lincoln was very protective, she did go on walks every once in a while.

"you are." he eyes her, letting go of her arm. "just be careful."

she licks her lips, looking over at the gate before turning back to him. "want to come?"

he gives a small nod, "sure."

once they're outside the gate they walk in a comfortable silence before kodie stops by a fallen log and sits on it. "so, you shot the chancellor, huh?"

"yeah," he chuckles. "guess i should've aimed better."

"maybe it's good that you didn't kill him." she glances over at him. "you're not a murderer."

"i'm still gonna get floated when they come down here." he shakes his head, looking out into the darkness. "i need to leave."

kodie scoffs, "you can't just leave your people. they need you."

"yeah," he huffs, speaking sarcastically. "i bet."

"stay for me?" she eyes him while he looked at the ground. "lord knows i would rip someone's head off with clarke only in charge."

"you could be a leader, you know?" he licks his chapped lips. "you've been on the ground longer than any of us."

"yeah," she nods once. "but it took me years to get as strong as i am and it took you two days." she sits up straighter. "besides, clarke and i on the same team would not work out."

"why do you hate her?" he laughs lightly.

"i don't hate her." she defends. "i'm just still angry with her for blaming wells' death on murphy and practically getting him killed." she looks at him again. "i know you all thought it was murphy, which was understandable because of the knife, but if she didn't cause a damn scene he would still be here, alive."

"murphy knows how to take care of himself." bellamy frowns, eyeing the younger girl as she looked at her hands. "he's not dead, i promise."

"you know," she looks over at him again. "i was told not to ever make promises, because they're almost always broken."

bellamy's eyebrows suddenly furrow and he tilts his head. "have you seen octavia lately?"

kodie shakes her head, looking around at the dark woods. "no, i haven't actually." she stands up, extending her hand to help bellamy up. "let's go find her."

× × ×

kodie and bellamy had searched the whole camp twice and didn't find octavia anywhere. bellamy called for a search party, but asked kodie to stay behind incase his sister came back. she had been hesitant because she knew what she was doing out there more than they did, but she didn't say anything and gave him a small nod.

it had been quite a while since they had left and as she continued to sit outside the gate monty walked over, sitting next to her. "you okay?" he asks.

kodie gives him a small smile and nods, "yeah."

"want more moonshine?" he offers over the cup in his hand and she accepts, taking a small sip before handing it back to him. "what if the grounders got octavia?" he asks quietly.

the blue eyed girl licked her lips. "they'd either torture her, trying to get information about our camp, or kill her right away."

"what if she's already dead?" he frowns.

kodie looked up at the sky as the sun was now up. "she's alive." she looks over at monty. "i know she is."

the two sat in silence for a bit before raven and clarke came out of the gate, saying that they were going somewhere for supplies. kodie decided not to question as she walked back into camp with monty and they made their way into the drop ship, admiring the set up raven had begin to put together with the radio.

"this is amazing." monty gasps. "i wish i was a mechanic."

"my dad was a mechanic." kodie smiles small. "he was amazing at his job."

"he must've been awesome because you turned out pretty cool." he smirks.

"the coolest." she responds before looking at a broken wristband that was still on the table. "do you think i would've been one of the people to come down to earth if i was actually locked up?"

"i would've hoped you were." he smiles. "you help out with this place a lot, but in a way it's good that you were dropped to the ground three years before us all. you know more and have taught us tons of stuff."

"i've barely done anything except mope and drink." she chuckles.

"trust me," he eyes her. "you've been a big help around here. you give people hope for the ground."

    "hope?" she raises an eyebrow.

"you've survived three years somehow and that gives everyone hope that we can survive also." he explains.

though kodie had help staying alive the past three years, it was kind of the same with the sky people. they all had help from each other.

"thanks, monty." she gives him a smile.

    "for what?" he laughs lightly.

"i don't know." she shrugs. "for making me feel important."
