kodie raked her fingers through her hair as she sat in boredom. octavia had stopped by the tent and apologised over twenty times for punching kodie, but the blue eyed girl knew it was for a good reason.

there wasn't much you could do when you can't walk, so kodie had managed to get the dirt out from under her fingernails and untangle most of her hair. her jacket was discarded next to her because it was warm in the tent and her shirt was still a bit wet from the storm, so she allowed it to dry without the jacket covering it.

when the tent flap opened kodie didn't bother looking, figuring it was bellamy. "how'd it go?" she asks as she focused on her hair.

"i'm pardoned." he says and kodie looks up to see him smiling. it wasn't one of those cocky smiles like he normally wears, it was a genuinely happy smile. kodie would've thought he looked cute when he smiled like that if she hadn't spotted the blood all over his hands.

"what happened to your hands?" she reaches out for one of his hands and examines the blood.

"it's not my blood." he mumbles as the smile falls from his face and he pulls his hand away from her. he walks over to the table and grabs a rag from a bowl of water, ringing it out before he starts to scrub at his hands.

"bell," kodie sighs. "go get me some hot water from over a fire and bring it to me, please."

    "why?" he asks.

she huffs, "i said please." bellamy rolls his eyes and leaves the tent, returning a few minutes later with hot water. he places it on the floor next to where kodie sat on the bed and picked up his rag again. "bring the rag over here." with yet another eye roll he obliged and kodie patted the empty spot next to her on the bed. once he was seated she took the rag from his hand and dipped it into the hot water. after ringing it out she reached for one of bellamy's hands and began cleaning the dry blood off. "so who's blood is it?"

bellamy watches the girl as her focus was now on his hand. "dax."

kodie didn't bother looking at him as she continued to clean his hand. "why'd you kill him?"

"he tried to kill clarke and i." he states and that catches kodie's attention.

she furrows her eyebrows and looks up at him. "what?"

bellamy licks his lips before explaining, "shumway was the one that told me to kill jaha so that i could get on the drop ship with my sister. i guess since they were coming to the ground shumway wanted me gone so i couldn't give him up to jaha. he had dax try to kill me and shumway said no witnesses, so that meant he had to kill clarke too."

"so what's happening with shumway now?" kodie asks.

"well i talked to jaha and explained everything to him—which got me pardoned—and shumway's obviously gonna be floated." bellamy shrugs.

"so everyone's pardoned of their crimes?" kodie bites her bottom lip as she finishes cleaning bellamy's right hand and moves on to the left.

"yeah," bellamy nods and kodie purses her lips.

    "everyone except me."

bellamy clenches his jaw, realising that what kodie said was true. "talk to jaha. explain that this was all your dad's plan. you should be pardoned."

"i should be, but i probably won't." she shakes her head. "maybe i should just go with lincoln. he can talk his people into accepting me."

"you sure about that? he did punch you in the face." bellamy states and kodie smacks her palm to her forehead.

    "i'm so stupid."

"you just can't hold a grudge." he smiles. "you've seem to let clarke off the hook a bit."

"i never could hold a grudge." she shrugs, dropping the bloody rag into the water. "you're clean."

"thanks." he eyes her and she gives him a nod as she looks at her bandaged ankle.

she huffs, "i left my other shoe on the third floor of the drop ship."

"we'll get it later." he responds before grabbing the bowl of water on the floor and he left the tent.

kodie laid down on the mattress, resting her foot on top of her jacket for some kind of elevation. she rested her arm on her forehead and shut her eyes. her head was still a bit sore, but there was nothing she could do about it.

"move your arm." bellamy says as he enters the tent.

kodie groans, "what now?" she looks at him and he holds up a folded rag, leaning forward to place it on her forehead. it was warm and felt good on kodie's skin. she mumbles, "thanks."

"welcome." he says as he walks over to the table and begins messing with the stuff on it.

kodie closes her eyes again and let out a deep breath. she wasn't necessarily tired, but her head hitting the metal floor made her lightheaded still. she blindly reaches over and grabs bellamy's blanket, draping it over her as she shifted to make herself more comfortable. it was a bit chilly and the tent wasn't blocking out all the cold, but it was most of it.

she soon felt bellamy lay on the empty spot next to her, but she didn't bother opening her eyes. they say in silence, kodie's eyes closed and bellamy staring at the ceiling of the tent. his hand were placing on his stomach and he licked his lips. "what exactly happened when you came home here? like with lincoln and stuff."

kodie hums, "lincoln found me when i landed. he told me it wasn't safe for me to be out in the open, so he took me back to his cave, aided my injuries, and taught me things. he kept me safe the three years i've been on the ground."

"and what made him turn his back on you?" he asks, tilting his head to look at her, but she didn't bother looking at him; her eyelids felt heavy.

"i don't know." kodie lies. "he probably thought i betrayed him considering i'm a sky girl and the sky people kidnapped him."

"sorry you lost a friendship, but it saved finn's life." he says before looking back at the ceiling.

"finn's important to me." kodie purses her lips. "so i get it. i would've wanted to save his life too."

    bellamy raises an eyebrow, "but?"

kodie finally opens her eyes and looks over at bellamy. "if i wasn't my dumb self and didn't take one of my walks i would've been here and i would've easily been able to get the cure for the poison from lincoln. i could've stopped him from getting beat and i could've stopped this war that's going to happen."

"we'll be okay." he assures. "we have weapons and we have the wall." he eyes her as she looks up at the ceiling of the tent. "i'll keep you safe, kodie, don't worry."

"i don't need protecting, bellamy. i can take care of myself." she responds.

"fine." he nods once. "you protect yourself and i'll protect the both of us, plus the eighty five other people in this camp."

kodie licks her lips. "alright, i'll help. you protect me; i'll protect you; we'll protect everyone."

bellamy looks over at the blue eyed brunette while she continues to stare at the ceiling, "deal."
