March 14th, 2027.
"The game is over."
Words I've been waiting to hear. I looked around and we all couldn't believe it. We were stunned. I looked at Lucas and tears started to roll down his face.
"Does this mean, were going home?" Someone asked.
"Yes, yes it does."
There was a moment of white blinding light, as if we had all walked through a transport door, and suddenly we weren't on the ship anymore. We were all transported to a place that I guess resembled heaven. It was like we were standing on clouds, looking up I realized we were in the sky.
"Deleting all files." A computerized voice said.
I looked around and found there was a large crowd of people behind me. All the remaining players were there, from little kids and over, every player who was still alive made it to this place. All our armor and gear had vanished, we were all dressed in white cloths as if we were going to church, we also no longer had our avatars faces. We looked like us again. Above us was a clock counting down. We had a minute and fourth five seconds, so I looked around and took one last look at my friends.
"I can't- I just can't." Sierra said, "were going home?"
"Yes, we are." I laughed. I couldn't believe it either. I was as shocked as the others.
"I can't believe it." Ross said, "That's it? That's how this ends? We all get to go home?"
"Yeah, yeah." I chuckled, "No more fighting, no more running. We're going home."
"Not all of us." Lucas sighed.
We looked around and watched as the other remaining players looked around, most trying to find their own friends, realizing some of their friends were now gone forever.
"So what now?" Sterling asked.
"We go home what else?"
"No, I mean when we get back what are we going to do?"
We all took a moment to pause and think.
"We'll find each other." Sierra said, "I'll find you guys. I'll find you." She looked at Sterling.
"Okay." He said and we all agreed. The clock got down to the last ten seconds. Part of me was so excited, yet part of me was also going to miss this game, the time I spent here. It was such a huge part of my life until now, but I was happy to hear that I was going home.
"Files Deleted, shutting down, now."
"Ready?" Sierra asked. I looked at her and nodded. I took her hand and held it in mine, soon I felt Ross hold my other one. We all held hands as the last thread seconds came.
"I'll see you guys on the other side." I said.
