7:00 am
We were walking in silence. Link and I. He was wearing the same green t-shirt he was wearing on Saturday, plus jeans and blue converse. My mom had gotten him all the items he would need for school. Binders, a backpack, et cetera.
"Can you do anything about the ears?" I demanded, unable to take the silence.
"What do you mean?"
"Your ears. They aren't normal. Is that a birth defect or something?"
"Oh. It's actually what makes my race stand out."
Your race?" I asked slowly.
"Yeah. I'm Hylian. You are too. You used to have ears like this."
When I was born, I had the same birth defect, my mother had told me. She had gotten them surgically altered so I wouldn't be bullied. How did he know that?
"Who are you, really?"
"I told you but you didn't believe me. Now, hold on. I'm fixing my ears."
"What?" I glanced over at him. My eyes widened. He was waving his left hand over his ear, slowly. Three triangles were glowing on the back of his hand. Suddenly, golden light radiated around his ears and then it faded. His ears were normal.
"H-how? How did you...."
"Do they look normal now?"
I fell forward, my eyes rolling back into my head. The world was spinning.
"Zelda!" Link cried, catching me.
"Triforce!" I gasped. The same mark began to glow on my left hand. I cried out then fainted.
7:03 am
"Mmh." My eyes opened. Link was carrying me. "How long was I out for?"
"Only three minutes. That's our school up ahead, right?"
"Yeah. You can put me down, now."
He put me down, gently. "Do you believe me, now?"
"I honestly don't know what to believe." I whispered.
"It's okay. Take your time."
"I'm not going to decide now! I've obviously seen things that are strange and hard to imagine, but.....I-I don't know. It's just too weird."
"I know. I can't possibly empathize with what you're going through."
"And if you're telling the truth, I can't possible empathize with what you're going through."
We had reached the front of the school. Students were milling around us, talking loudly.
Link raised his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"You said we had fallen for each other. Now, I have no idea who you are. Yet you clearly know me. IF you're telling the truth."
Link smiled. "You're warming up to me."
"Shut up." I blushed and walked swiftly inside the school. Then walked back. "You need help getting around, don't you?"
"Yeah it would appear so."
"Okay. Follow me."
