Chapter 5-The Taxi Driver

As we entered the city, I felt like I was home again. I would see my mom again. But I remembered that Chiron didn't want me to tell anyone about this important quest. It was like we were keeping the quest a secret.
As we were walking through the city, we were very cautious about anyone and anything. I had Riptide in my pocket just in case. There were loads of cars driving down the street, police cars lined at every corner, and taxi drivers driving people to their locations. We had to get a taxi fast.
"Taxi!" I yelled as one drove away from me. How rude.
"I don't think we'll ever get a taxi. Look how busy the city is today!" Annabeth said as tears welled in her eyes. Just as they were going to fall down her cheeks, she quickly wiped them away.
"Annabeth, Grover, and Percy," Chiron began as he opened a taxi door, "I got a taxi!" As we all got into the taxi, the driver looked at us with a creepy grin on his face. Chills crept up my spin as I heard his raspy, evil sounding voice.
"Where do you want to go today?" We all stared at each other as he stared creepily into our eyes. It was like whenever I looked directly at his face, I felt a burning feeling in my heart that hurt a lot. It was very weird.
"Um.. We want to head to the Empire State Building," I said without looking at his crooked face.
"I'm afraid I can't drive you there," The driver said as his voice grew even lower and darker than when he spoke before. Chiron looked at all three of us as sweat droplets came down his face. "You three are coming with me!" The taxi driver said as he ejected Chiron out of the taxi and into the hands of a giant Minotaur.
"CHIRON!" All three of us shouted as the Minotaur squeezed Chiron. Chiron groaned in pain and tried to break free of the minotaur's clutches, but he couldn't. Citizens screamed in fear as fire raged from the city.
"Don't worry about him, he'll be fine," The driver said as the door slammed shut. "Now buckle up!" Chains started to rap around us and held us tightly so we couldn't escape.
"Why are you doing this?!" Annabeth yelled in his face.
"It wasn't my idea to capture you. My boss wants you!" He said as he pushed down the petal to the taxi. We must have been going at least 100 miles per hour because I could barely feel any part of my body. While we were still driving, the taxi driver pushed a red button on a remote and green smoke came out from the roof of the car. We all coughed as we tried not to breathe in the smoke but sooner or later we were all unconscious.
