It's been a while since I last saw Bradley. Through every minute of the nineteen days, all I wanted was to be snuggled in his arms again. To get me through, I resorted to changing things. Starting with my brown hair, which now had blonde dip dyed ends, accompanied by the curls they took shape on. Next was my songwriting, which had become a lot more frequent, in the time I had written eight songs, with backing music to go with it. I had temporarily increased the number of times I went to dance class to five times a week, and finally, I had put more effort into getting acting gigs. Being this busy made the separation easier.
My phone buzzed on the table beside me, and I knew immediately what it was for. 'Today's the day, be happy! :)' the alarm/reminder informed me, and a smile took over my lips. It was the day The Vamps were returning, and the day I was seeing Bradley again. I had played the day over and over in my mind, and I had it planned to each exact minute. I checked the time, it was the section of time allocated to makeup. Whilst walking over to the mirror, I caught sight of the photograph of the two of us the day before the departure. Having it made my smile bigger, I happily applied the makeup and fixed my usually untamed curls into a somewhat normal state.
After having the relationship purely through texts and calls, I let my mind wonder as to the reaction the new me would receive. My hair is obviously different, but there was more than that. I was thinner due to the added dance lessons i'd been attending, and when I accidentally sang out loud as opposed to just to myself my voice had a nice smooth sound, I had perfected it whilst he was away.
I must have been daydreaming for a fair while, as when I checked the time I realised I was running late for the next segment of the day - breakfast. Sticking to my specialist diet, I quickly ate breakfast and set off for my first destination of the day. Arriving at the little clothes shop, I collected my specially made outfit and headed back home. I put extra thought into what to wear, and settled for the slightly comical option. I looked down at my 'Number One Vampette' shirt and patterned leggings, and felt a sense of self satisfaction. Yeah, some may say i'm over organized, but it all pays off when you're not running around at the last minute.
After a few mindless and unproductive hours on tumblr, it was time to go meet up with Bradley's family, as we were all heading out together to go meet him, but he didn't know I was going to be there, making it all the better.
Walking to the Simpson household, I couldn't help but smile again, each step of the day was getting me ever closer to what I craved most in the world. Once we were all piled into the car, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. Realising I had no alarms set for this time, I cautiously unlocked it, and instantly smiled once again. 'Not long now love, hang in there. I can't explain how excited I am x' the text read, and I shuffled back into the seat, hoping the drive to the airport would hurry up.
As we arrived, we were ushered into a private gate waiting area, with the other boys' families and friends. "Are you nervous?" Natalie asked me with a smile. I nodded, afraid my voice would shatter my somewhat brave exterior. "Believe me, knowing my brother as well as I do I think you'll be pleasantly surprised" she told me, and then continued on saying other things in an attempt to calm my shaking self. We saw the plane pull into the holding area, and heard very muffled speech in the distance. I was instructed to stand behind everyone else, to fully emphasise the surprise.
I could vaguely see through the gaps in people's arms that the figures from the plane were making their way closer to the gate where we were, and I attempted to position myself further behind the rest of them, which was tough.
A few minutes later I could make out every conversation every passenger was having, and then I saw the people that had arrived in the gate. I made out the blonde spiked head of hair belonging to Connor make his way over to his family and friends, and I heard James and Tristan quickly finish a conversation about Europe and future tours before they followed suit. "Ready Antonia?" Natalie whispered, and I grinned. "Ready as i'll ever be!" I whispered back and stifled a squeal. I waved to the other three and they waved back, but in an incredibly subtle way. Finally, it was time for the reunion.
As Bradley was wrapped into a hug by his parents, I took the opportunity to jump up and look over Natalie's shoulder, and nearly had my cover blown as I saw his gaze quickly scan the room, and I couldn't help but wonder if he was looking for me. I dived back behind his sister and then quickly scurried behind his parents when it was the siblings' turn to reunite. I noticed the other boys and their families were preparing to leave, and wondered when it was my turn. "Are we all ready to go?" he asked his family, and I knew they were all grinning at each other. "Nearly, not quite yet" was the response delivered, and I could imagine his expression being one of utter confusion. I began nervously biting my fingernails as I knew in a matter of seconds I would have my position compromised, and the moment i'd been waiting for, wishing for, for nearly three weeks, was going to become a reality.
"What do you mean? What else is there?" he asked, a hint of excitement in his tone now. I hoped I wouldn't dampen that excitement. "Your surprise" someone replied, and suddenly his family group split in half, leaving me in the middle of the newly made path, directly opposite Bradley. His expression was priceless, and I just knew shock didn't cover it at all. "A-Antonia?" he asked for clarification, clearly still in shock. "Bradley bear!" I squealed as I ran towards him. He dropped his luggage at just the right second, as he opened his arms in just enough time to catch me and stop hiself from toppling over. "Is it really a necessary thing when my nickname is actually longer than my name?" he asked with a chuckle. "Yes, yes it is" I replied, my voice still fairly high pitched.
"You..You look amazing" he stuttered, and took one of the dip dyed curls between his fingers. "You're a fine one to talk Simpson" I replied with a giggle as he rested me back on the ground. We held a stare for a few seconds, but felt like hours, before one of us broke the silence. "Screw it, i've been dying to do this for nineteen days" he said softly before crashing our lips together.
Cliche? Maybe. Perfect? Definitely.
