I'm sure a lot of y'all have seen the story on the news about the woman who fell off a Carnival Cruise on Friday, May 13. I'm also sure that those of you who heard about it thought it was such a crazy thing to have happen. I agree, but I see the depth of the situation and the pain it has caused. I knew her, and I know her girls. Her oldest is my age. Today was the funeral, and I was okay until I walked in and saw my best friend crying, and then when the family came in and my other friend, the woman's daughter, was sobbing, it hit me. She lost her mom. This verse was in the slideshow:

Luke 1:45 (NIV)
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!"

The woman who passed away was blessed and she is now Home with the Lord, but I'm watching the grief left behind. It's hard to see, but my prayer for her friends and family is that they would grow in their faith and seek the Lord for comfort in this tragic situation. Earlier that week we read this verse in Bible class:

Revelation 2:10-11(NIV)
"Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor's crown. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death."

I hope that everyone impacted by her death will live out these verses and know that she is not in pain, she's not alone, but that she's happy and with God, watching over them every day. This grief and trial is hard right now, but with God, you can get through anything.

Please keep the friends and family of this woman in your prayers, they need it. Never lose sight of God no matter how hard things get.
