(2 Years later)  {Light's POV}

"Light? Misa is here!" Sayu yelled up the stairs. Great. Misa.

Ever since senior year when she showed up at school she hasn't been able to leave me alone. As soon as L left it got worse of course, with no one in her way she decided I was easy prey. I guess I was; vulnerable and unloved. So there I was 2 years from leaving high school, hanging out with this dumb blonde and nothing to show for myself.

"How are ya' Light!?" She squeaked in annoying enthusiasm.

"Fine."

"How's job hunting?"

"Fine."

"How's L?"

That one made me stop and think. How was L? How was I supposed to know? Where did L go? Why doesn't he pick up his phone? Is he dead? Is he straight? Does he wear socks now?

I didn't know anything about L now, in fact if I ran into him on the street I probably wouldn't even recognize him .

"So, I'm guessing by that he still isn't answering?" Misa said in fake sympathy.

"OF COURSE HE ISN'T! You blonde tart! It's been two years it doesn't matter how many times you ask he isn't going to pick up!" I screamed, anger exploding out of me, my brain repeating "I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!"

Misa starred at me in red open mouthed shock. Her eyes were clouded with surprise and tears, she blinked harshly, closing her mouth and letting the tears stream. "I- I... It's not my fault he didn't love you!" She squeaked and stormed out in all her high-heeled glory. I have to admit I sighed in relief as I heard the front door shake on its hinges.

{L's POV}

My finger followed the drop of rain running down my car window, it descended slowly until it joined another; suddenly I didn't want to trace it anymore.

I faced forward one again only to see more drops of rain cascading down the windscreen. I sighed, "what a bore."

"What would that be?" My friend, Matt, said as he drove.

"Just life, quite boring isn't it?"

"Not when you're me, my friend!" Matt chuckled at himself.

I didn't say much after that, the conversation was virtually over after all. Matt just continued to drive through the rain as a cigarette hung lazily from his lips, and I just continued to sit in silence with all the noise in the world in my head.
