{L's POV}
"Yes."
"Why are you doing this?" Light said, concern making his words sound patronising.
"I can't stay here any longer there are...too many bad memories." I murmured back. Bad memories, my only excuse. The pain in Light's voice made it obvious he didn't want me to go but it was too late; we were at the airport. Maybe I could stay, I don't have to go really however I couldn't make myself believe that. As long as I stayed here with Light I'd be a slave. A pathetic little slut.
"I'm sorry Light I..." But I had no more excuses, I had nothing.
Light stood tall over me, hand intertwined with mine and finally I saw tears glisten in his eyes. Beautiful hazel eyes that I couldn't stand living without. He bowed his head; a man defeated. Tears rolled down his perfect face, gathering at his chin and slowly dripping onto his shirt. "I love you..." He whispered almost inaudibly. "You never understood love really. Well I'll tell you now. Don't fall in love. It hurts too much, I can't breath half the time, I can't sleep. I talk to myself about you and I realise, I do love you. More than I've loved anyone. I just know that somebody who loved me couldn't rip me apart like this," his hand slid from mine and I realised I was crying too, "you don't love me do you?"
But I did. I'd never loved anyone in my life but I loved him. Telling him I loved him would make it harder to go so I said it. "No, I never loved you." I whispered.
"What?"
"No!" I shouted, "I don't! Are you happy now! I never did!" I couldn't look at his face as it crumpled into a broken man. No I turned and I walked away, I left the only man I've ever loved.
But maybe if I said I loved him we could've pretended, if only for a moment, that everything was perfect between us. That I'd be back. That our link hadn't been eternally broken...
