     empty chills were around them, autumn leaves chasing tomorrow as their weary colours scatter about. it was nearly winter, when most of them would die out.

     "thank you for walking me home, jin."

     "you're welcome."

     two figures, each on the other side of the road. one goofy and giggling, hair free, tickling past her shoulders. the other with his hands in his pockets, a silent smile.

     they reached her apartment.

     the sun was blocked from the shining pair, replaced with loud pellets.

     the giggles stopped, replaced with frantic searches for her umbrella. again.

     his smile faded, eyes wide as he ran to the nearest store canopy for shelter.

     "hey jin!" she shouted over the rain.

     "what?" he hollered back.

     "daisuki!"

i really like you, my friend.

     "huh?" the rain pelted harder.

     "aishiteru!"

i'm in love with you.

     "i can't understand you!"

     "koishiteru!"

i love you.

     "what are you saying!?"

     she hurried back to her house, leaving the curious jin in the midst of the rain.

     he felt a buzz on his thigh. he checked.
