"Well I came home, like a stone, and I fell heavy into your arms. These days of dust, which we've known, will blow away with this new sun." Mumford and Sons, I Will Wait.

After he came back from the games he wasn't himself. He wouldn't go to watch Kailani at the beach for a few days and Kailani would wake to his screams in the night. Even though she couldn't speak very good English, she still had a loving heart. He had always kept her company before he was reaped and she was forever grateful. She couldn't let him suffer. She was determined to save him like he unknowingly did for her. Kailani saw all his potential and her mind told her that she had to save him. Keep him sane.

She ran over to his victor house one night and opened the unlocked door. Even though they were now 15 and barely knew each other, she ran over to him and hugged him. He held on to her as she said some words in a language he didn't understand. After he calmed down she said with a heavy accent, " You are okay. I can help." He simply just nodded as he cried and hugged her body again.

"Please don't leave me here. I don't want to be alone."

The next day he woke up to see Kailani in a chair next to his bed, holding his hand. He smiled at her peaceful face and was grateful that she helped him with his nightmares last night. He slowly separated their sweaty hands and picked her up bridal style to put her in his bed. After he made sure she was comfortable, he went downstairs to make toast and eggs(pretty much the only thing he knew how to make).Of course he made some for his guest and made some tea. As the kettle started to whistle, she came down the stairs. Her hair was a wavy mess but he could care less. He always thought she was beautiful. She smiled and bowed a little bit to say hello and of course he smiled back.

"Please sit." He said. She nodded and took a seat as he gave her a serving of the food he made.

"Thank you for helping me last night. I know we aren't familiar with each other yet but maybe we can work on that?" He asked after they started eating.

"I would...like that... very much." She responded, struggling a little bit.

"Great! I could help you learn English if you'd like?" He said excitedly. After a long pause he immediately felt bad." Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"

"No no no. I would like. My speech is no good. Por...exchange, I....eh.. teach mine." She smiled. He chuckled a little bit at the way she said "for" but he knew she was trying her best.

"Deal. I'm glad to get to know you Kailani."

" Uh I" She scratched her head," do not know what you are...called." She said slightly embarrassed.

"Its Finnick love."

"Pinneek love?" She tilted her head a little.

"We'll work on it." He said assuring.

Later that day they both went to the beach and put their feet in the water. They had decided when Finnick would teach her a word, Kailani would teach him what that one meant in her language.

"What language do you speak Kailani?" He asked after they had already practiced and traded words.

"Greek. Papa called it old school' since we just know the language from it being passed down by past generations. I was only able to speak it around the family in whispers."She said slowly, making sure she said everything right. Finnick nodded and resumed teaching her the basics.

After he taught her the alphabet he asked " Do you guys have an alphabet?"

" I only learned to speak." He nodded and Kailani suddenly sat on the floor and drew symbols in the sand around her.
