"Why cant I hold you in the street? Why cant I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that, why cant we be like that? Cause I'm yours. Why cant I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops. I wish that we could be like that, why cant it be like that? Cause I'm yours." Little Mix, Secret Love Song part 2

The next day was perfect bliss for the two joined souls. Everything felt significantly different. From the way they woke up to the way they walked together. They were so content with their lives in this moment.

Kai had woken up before Finnick this morning and admired her fiances handsome features.

" How can I be so lucky?" She whispered. Thats when he woke up with a smirk.

"I know right. Its all the praying you've been doing." He joked as she hit his chest lightly. She kissed his cheek and went to leave only to be brought back into his arms. " Noooo. Dont leave me alone in our warm, comfortable bed."

"Finnick its time to get up sweetheart. Snow is supposed to announce the quarter quell's theme today and I would like to digest my food before I see him."

"You're right, as always." He kissed her shoulder up to her neck, making her shiver in delight before getting up.

"I don't need a replay of last night thank you very much." She said as she ran to the bathroom. He chuckled when her saw her small blush that matched his own.

After their morning routine Finnick said he'd make breakfast while she volunteered to tidy up the house and make a mini pallet on the floor for them to lay on. She put the coffee table back in the middle so they could eat their breakfast on it and talk before she put it away again.

" We're always at your house, have you noticed that?" Finnick randomly brought up after they had gotten comfortable again on the soft blankets beneath them. Waiting for the announcement to happen.

"I like my house better. Its very beach themed and has different colors. Your house is grey with one blue wall in the living room. That's it." She chuckled." In other words my house is more.. homey."

"Yes, good choice of words there Kai." he commented sarcastically.

"Leave me alone." She hid in his chest with a little blush on her face.

"You are right though. With you, it's definitely a more comfortable house to live in." Finnick then pulled her closer and she naturally went to lay her body beside his. They fell perfectly in place. They held each other before they started another conversation about how the little mermaid wanted her wedding to go. Of course Finnick didn't give any input unless it was about food or his clothing. He wasn't quite sure he wanted to wear a tux but he said it didn't really matter to him. "As long as I get to marry my soulmate I'm a happy man." he said.

Soon enough they turned their attention to the tv just in time to see President Snow's entrance. The couple sat up straight, tense at seeing him. From seeing the look on his face, they both knew that he had something wicked up his sleeve.

"This years theme of the quarter quell will be to reap tributes from the existing pool of victors. No matter what age, health, or situation." The crowd in the capital cheered and some cried. But not like Finnick and Kailani did. They were in shock with silent tears running down their faces.

"May the odds be ever in your favor." And with that, the broadcast cut off. Kai tried to stand up and run but her body collapsed and she landed roughly on the floor. She wanted to run away to the sea and swim out until nobody could catch her. But she couldn't move. It felt like it was impossible. She tucked her tanned legs underneath herself and laid her forehead on the floor. Gripping tightly at her hair, now sobbing.

Finnick couldn't move either. He didn't even realize that Kai had fallen or was crying. ' What the hell are we gonna do?' Was all he would think. He was the only alive male victor and Kai was most likely going to volunteer. He knew that her heart was too big to let an old brittle Mags and an insane girl into the games. How would they even fend for themselves? Finnick broke out of his shock when Annie started screaming bloody murder. This only made the red headed girl cry even harder as she came to realize her and Finnick would have to die. They wouldn't be able to get married like they had planned or escape this cruel world to live together and raise children.
Finnick immediately went to his lover and held her in this arms. They both cried into each others shoulders as he tried to calm her.

"It'll be alright. We will figure something out I promise you. I won't let you die."

"I can't live without you Finnick." She sobbed. "I can't let you die."

"Why can't we just be together? Why can't this be a perfect world with no killing for sport or starvation?"

" I don't know my love. But we will be together no matter what happens ok? Promise me you won't ever leave my side in that arena." Finnick asked of her as he puled away a little to look into her eyes. It broke his heart to see those once bright eyes to be filled with such sadness.

" I promise."

No body left their homes after that until late at night. They apparently all had the same idea as they all walked to the beach in he middle of the night. They all sat together and stared at the sea. The calming waves tried to sooth away their worries, begging them to be happy.

"I'm volunteering for you if either of you gets picked. If my name is called, please, let it be. Honor my wishes and let me go with Finnick."

"But we need you guys." Annie pleaded." I can go. I'm already the crazy girl. Might as well put me out of my misery."Mags shook her head to say no and placed a hand on the 'crazy' girls shoulder.

"No Annie. You've already gotten so much better. A beautiful young girl like you needs to marry and have children so Mags can have someone to spoil." Kai smiled. This made Finnick shed a lone tear. He wanted that. They both did. They wanted Mags and Annie to spoil and be apart of their child's life and watch them grow into beautiful people. But now, that was even more impossible to do.

"We will be fine. We want you to live your lives for us if one of us doesn't make it. Mags, you've been there for me my whole life and I am so grateful for you. I want you to pass peacefully and not in the games where you will suffer. And Kai is right Annie. You have gotten so much better. You will find love soon, Kai told me so."

This earned him a slap on his arm. "You weren't supposed to tell her idiot!"

Annie and Mags laughed and grabbed the couples hands.
"Thank you."

They had left the beach shortly after that and went to bed just to stare at the ceiling.

" Finnick."

"Yes darling?"

" If we somehow make it out alive, I want to have a house on the beach."

The blonde man laughed. " Anything for you my queen. What color?"

"I was thinking light blue and we could put pretty yellow flowers around it."
She snuggled into his chest and he held her tightly as he moved on his side so that they were facing each other. He kissed her slowly.

"Ugly colors for a beautiful woman, got it." He teased, making her laugh and kiss him some more. She wanted to cherish these last moments they had alone together. It wouldn't happen again after the reaping. This was the last night they could truely have together.

Kailani sang a lullaby for them to make them calm and hopefully sleep. Thankfully Finnick did sleep and Kai followed shortly after.  Tomorrow was going to be eventful, they needed all the sleep they could get.
