Chapter 9- Allies

Shane's POV

I hopped out bed and got dressed. I pushed past Joey and Chad. I sat down and started to eat. They joined me. Joey sat next to me

He gently placed his hand on my knee. I froze. It slid further up.

What the f*ck is he doing?!

It stopped just on my thigh just below my hip. I looked up and him and glared.

He smiled. I've almost had enough of this shit he was doing.

Joey: Shane?

I looked over at him. Then he took my hand. And intertwined our fingers. That's where I drew the line. I ripped my hand and ran from the table.

I ended up on the roof looking down at the city. It was peaceful. I calmed down quite a bit.

Joey: Shane?

He's back. I turn around and he's standing a few feet from me. Obviously embarrassed.

Joey: Sorry about earlier.

Shane: Whatever...

Joey: But we should at least act when we go to train.

Shane: Why?

Joey: Really Shane?

Shane: Ok fine.

I turn back around look down at the city. Joey stood next to me. He seemed to be fiddling with his hand.

Joey: Oh I can't take this anymore!

I turn my head to face him. He grabbed my neck and pulled me close. Then he kissed me.

I have to admit, it felt good. I enjoyed it but I didn't kiss back. I just stood there and let him kiss me. When he pulled back he had tears in his eyes.

Joey: I don't wanna do this anymore!

Shane: Do what?

Joey: Fight!

I rolled my eyes and started to walk away. But he grabbed me and turned me around.

Joey: Seriously Shane! Ok I was wrong! I heard what you said outside my door! And to be honest I just needed to cool down! I don't wanna fight anymore...

Shane: Then we don't.

Joey: Please Shane.

Joey's POV

I was desperate for him to forgive me. I needed him so much. I just act like an idiot a lot.

Shane: Hand holding and hugs. No kissing.

I took it. Even a little is good enough.

Joey: Oh thank you Shane!

I threw my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.

Shane: I said no kissing.

Joey: Oh. I thought you meant like on the lips. Not the cheek too.

Shane: Well you'll have to earn it.

He smirked. He was teasing me and I couldn't stop him. I sighed and nodded. He took my hand and we walked back inside.

Chad: You two ready?

Shane: Yep. Let's go.

He drags me down to the training room smiling. This is complete torture not being able to kiss him. I guess I deserve it for yelling and slapping him.

We were one of the firsts to arrive. Shane still held my hand even when some of the other Tributes glared at us.

I really hope someone wants to team. There's no way we can survive alone. I look over at Shane. He's glancing around absentmindedly. I hope he's taking things seriously too.

I look around as more and more Tributes arrive. They all look so intimidating. I'm really scared. And I guess I start shaking because Shane leans down and kisses my cheek.

Shane: You'll be fine. Don't show any fear. I know you can do it.

I smile at him. I feel a lot better. I can do this. Now he only thing we need is allies.

But who will we team with?
