Shane's POV

My brothers came. They talked but I ignored them. I don't really care about them anymore.

Then Lisa came.

Lisa: I'm sorry about everything I said. I don't want our last words to be something we both regret.

Shane: Fine.

Lisa: I'm sorry Shane. I love you and I respect you.

Shane: Ok. Sorry.

Lisa: Good luck Shane.

Shane: Thanks Lisa.

Lisa: No problem. I have to go but first...

She kissed my cheek and shoved something in my pocket. She waved and ran off. I sighed and sat down.

Mom: Shane?

I jumped up.

Shane: Get out!

Mom: Don't yell at me! I'm here to talk to you!

Shane: Well? Say something?! Apologize!

Mom: I don't need to apologize!

Shane: Yes you do! It's your reason I went into this game! It's your fault I'm here now! You wouldn't even talk to me for 5 minutes!

Mom: I was busy Shane!

Shane: You always are! You never had time for me...

Mom: Shane-

Peacekeeper: Times up.

She gets dragged out with a sad, regretful look. Good. I hope she feels bad. She deserves it. Next I'm dragged onto the train. I sit in the first cart next to Joey. He's fiddling with his thumbs. I'm just planning out my death. I'll just suicide in the bloodbath. That's the easiest.

Joey: Shane?

Shane: Leave me alone!

I was in a bad mood and I didn't want to talk to him.

Chad: Cool down. Now we have a lot to talk about before dinner.

(Btw does anyone who Chad is? From Screen Team? No? Fine people!)

Shane: I'm not talking to either of you!

Chad grabs my wrist before I can run off. I sit down as glare at them.

Chad: We need to make a plan-

Shane: Well I already have my plan.

Chad: What are you talking about?

Shane: I'm gonna do a suicide.

Joey: Shane!

Shane: Why the hell do you care?

I storm off for real and flop onto my bed. I don't want anyone to stop me. I won't let them. I have to do it. Even though I'm mad at Joey, I still like him. And this is the only way to save him and everyone else.

Joey's POV

Joey: We have to stop him!

Chad: We need to fix your relationship. You need Shane so you both can survive. Just have Shane fall in love with you again.

Joey: How do I do that?

Chad: Do what you did the first time. Or just go with it.

Joey: Now?

Chad: Go.

I get up and walk to Shane's room. I quietly knock at the door.

Shane: Come in.

His voice is soft and much kinder. I walk in and sit down next to him on his bed.

Joey: I'm sorry I flipped out. I should respect your love life. But... have you decided?

Shane: Decided what?

Joey: I kinda thought we were in a relationship so I freaked. But then I realized we never decided. So I guess it's your choice. Date whoever you want. I just-

(Confused? Read prologue.)

He cut me off by hugging me tightly. I hugged back and waited for him to speak.

Shane: I've been in a bad mood. I'm sorry Joey. I got upset when you flipped out on me because I felt I did nothing wrong. I didn't realize you liked me that much.

Joey: I do though.

Shane: I know.

Joey: Are you still going through with your... plan?

I pulled back to look at his expression. His eyes flashed sorrow but he still smiled.

Shane: I am.

Joey: No Shane!

I start to cry. He's gonna kill himself or let the careers do it. Why?

Shane: Joey I-

I slammed my lips on his. I put so much emotion into this kiss hoping he would stay with me and our friends. We all need him. I pull back biting my lip.

Shane: Joey. I know you want me to stay but it's easier for everyone if I go like this.

Joey: Why?

Shane: My family is messed up. I'm terrible to my friends and... other stuff.

Shane's POV

Joey: I need you...

I truly feel bad. But I know if I don't do this the Capital will be breathing down my neck. I don't want to risk that. And I don't want to hurt him.
