Joey's POV

She sat me down as I started crying. I was so scared.

Joey: Why wouldn't he tell me?

Chad: Because he knew what would happen if his plan went wrong.

Lisa: And it did.

My eyes widened as I cried even more. He's dead. Shane is dead!

Lisa: Calm down Joey. Let us explain.

I nodded.

Chad: The plan was for Lisa, the new leader of the rebels, and I to put together an army and break you guys out of the Arena.

Lisa: But Shane chose you to get saved first.

Chad: He knew that if we saved you first he could get left behind.

Lisa: And he did. The Capital has him.

I was silent. I knew why he wouldn't tell me. I would never let him save me instead of himself. I just hugged my knees and let my tears fall without caring.

Chad: Joey... Listen, we can save him.

Joey: H-how?

Dan sits next to me and rubs my back. I smile weakly at him.

Lisa: With the help of the rebels we'll sneak into the Capital and break them out.

Joey: Could I help?

Chad: We can't risk you.

Joey: Why?

Lisa: You're a very important person now. You will stay in District 13 while we go in the missions.

Joey: Please? I want to save him. I need to save him...

Lisa: We need to keep you safe. All of the Tributes.

Joey: This is insane.

Chad: We rescued your family. And Shane's too.

Joey: And Brittany?

Chad: No. Angie couldn't find her.

Joey: Angie?

Chad: My wife.

Joey: But why did you take them from 12?

Chad: Look.

He points to a TV. I watch in horror. They're bombing the Districts the remaining Tributes came from.

Joey: Brittany...

Lisa: Joey I'm sor-

Joey: I know where she is!

Chad: Where?

Joey: The forest.

Shane's POV

Pr. Tube: Welcome back Shane.

He had a devilish smile on his face. I knew he'd beat the answer out of me. But I won't spill. I will keep shut for Joey.

Tube: I know it was you. You started a war! Not even Joey is safe.

I glared at him. How dare he threaten Joey!

Shane: Leave him out of this!

Tube: I want answers.

Shane: I want to be let go!

Tube: If you won't cooperate we will use force.

Shane: Like I care. Beat until I'm bleeding in every spot on my body! I won't tell you a thing!

He smirked.

Tube: Well, we'll be trying a different approach.

He brought in a few doctors. I squirm in my chair. They inject something into my arm. My body stiffens. Everything starts spinning.

Then I black out.

Brittany's POV

I'm hiding in the woods. I know Joey will find me here.

Brittany: I'm waiting.

I managed to grab our bows and forage for some food. Since it's just me it won't be too difficult to survive.

Brittany: Goodbye District 12. This is the end...
