A few days have passed, and we have no idea what to do about our dilemma. We have kept on the low-down about the relationship, so no-one knows. We were sat in Nick's office just relaxing when we heard a massive bang not too far away, then another, then another. Nick looked over to me in fear.
"Is that an attack?" I ask him, he nods, his eyes wide with fear.
"My first one since taking over" he sighed. I go over to him and grab him by the shoulders, looking him in the eyes.
"We are going to be fine, okay?" I whisper. "WE can do this, okay? I am not letting you do this on your own for the first time when I am right here!" He smiles, and pulls me into a quick hug before letting go.
"We need to get going." He said weakly. I pulled him up out of his chair and we ran out of the door just as another explosion went off. I got catapulted backwards into Nick, who luckily caught me no problem and lowered my feet to the floor.
"Thanks." I smile, then we carry on forwards to the site of the last explosion. We see many bodies strewn across the floor. I spot a few faces, including Daniels, the kind nurse that helped me when I was able to stand. I had become good friends with him over the past month. "Dante!" I screech, dropping to the floor next to him. I lift his head into my lap, and shake him, tears streaming down my face. His eyes open and light up when he spots me.
"...Page." He mumbles, weakness overcoming his body. "You're... okay!" He sighs in relief for my wellbeing, then looks down at his body. He has millions of cuts and bruises, and his legs are shredded into ribbons. I follow his eyes, seeing his nurse uniform in tatters. I start crying even harder, and I feel a hand on my cheek. I look down and see Dante smiling at me. "Don't cry... princess. You... can manage... without... me... Page..." He then drops his arm and his head rocks to the floor. I sit and stare for a moment, tears overcoming me.
"DANTE! DANTE NO!" I cry, placing my head on his forehead. I stay there for what seems like a lifetime, knowing my new best friend is gone, the one person I trusted the most here (Apart from Nick, of course!) is dead, because of some stupid raid! Then a hand taps my shoulder, and I instantly lower Dante's head to a comfortable position in the sharp gravel and turn into Nick's arms, sobbing my eyes out. He sits there with me for a few minutes and strokes my hair, rocking backwards and forwards. As soon as I stop crying, he pulls away, and I see the business man I always knew was there.
"You okay to carry on, because we need to move." He states, and I know he means well, but I stare at him. He realises, and instantly changes his mood. "No no! You know what, you just stay here, and be safe, okay?" He goes to give me a massive hug, and I push him away at arm's length.
"What do you mean, 'Be safe'?" I question. He bows his head. I gasp. "That's what happened to the last leader, isn't it?" I look at him, he doesn't move. I shove him. "YOU MEAN TO SAY, THAT YOU COULD DIE OUT THERE?" I screech at him. He stands up and goes to walk away. I jump up and pull him into a kiss. People around us stare and gasp, but I don't care. He doesn't seem to either. We pull away, and I stare into his eyes. "Don't die out there, okay?" I whisper. He smiles.
"Anything for you, babe." He whispers back. He turns and runs out of the room, and I pray then and there for him to be okay, and nothing to happen to him. I shake my head, smiling at his cheesiness, and turn to tend to the badly wounded, avoiding looking at Dante's body. I hear a few explosions in the process and every one, I pray for Nick to come back okay. Alive.
