Ok chapter 4 and i hope that you are all still reading and enjoying this "book" because i'd hate if i were just typing this to myself.  SO PLEASE COMMENT!

With my long hair tied up into a bun, I sat in the lounge chair with my guitar on my lap, strumming away on a new song.  I had a steaming cup of tea next to me on the end table and my phone next to it.  Last night when I talked to Frank, I found out that he may be getting deployed for fifteen months.  I know that I’m not home anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to worry about him or long to see him. And his poor fiancé.  Frank’s engaged to the love of his life who also happens to be in the army.  She is currently away and won’t be back until December which means Thanksgiving without her.

They met while they were at school and they’ve been together ever since.  I love the woman like a sister because she’s done so much for me.  She loves my brother, but she also helped me through those times where a mom would have been needed.  Like learning how to wear make- up, not looking like a slut, what a bra was, and the monthly gift. I really wish there was a return policy on that though.

Frank was so happy that I made it into a band and he couldn’t wait to see me for Thanksgiving.  He also told me that he was going to buy our first album.  Somehow, he can make a sour situation into a happy one.

I wrote down lyrics onto my note book as I thought about our phone conversation over and over again. I liked to write songs, but not sing them. I could sing, but I hated to. The only time I did was in the shower, if I was sad, alone, or with Frank. I would sing the songs I wrote to Frank and he would help me critique them. Sometimes I would just spill my heart out into them and every emotion that I could spare. After talking about my dad with Jay at the tea shop, I felt like it was a good time to get rid of the remaining emotions.

I scribbled out words and strummed out notes and cords, trying to make the song perfect. And when I thought I had it right, I sang the whole thing out. It sounded perfect, well to me. I couldn’t wait to sing it for Frank. I know he’d understand it all.  Frank seemed to understand every crazy thing I wrote down on paper. He would have made an awesome English teacher.

When I walked into the studio, Kurt was sitting on a stool with his guitar and had a notebook on his lap.  His crazy hair was draped over his face so he couldn’t see me. He must have heard me though cause he looked up and gave a weak smile.  I returned it and set my bag down and took my guitar out of its case.

“Um…about yesterday.” I looked up to see Kurt still looking at me with a troubled face.

“It’s okay. It was an accident.” I smiled at him and he seemed to be relieved that I wasn’t holding a grudge or being cold.  The reaction he had was surprisingly similar to Jay's, and for that moment they did appear to be brothers.

“You know all the songs, right?”

“Yup.” He looked back down at the notebook and said

“Okay cool cause I’m coming up with some new songs. I want our first track to have more than ten songs.” I walked over to him with my guitar in hand and ask

“What do you have so far.” He handed over the notebook and I read the lines. They were pretty good and seemed to have a lot of meaning behind them. He started to strum his guitar, feeling out the songs tempo. I tapped my foot and hummed the words into a rhythm and said “It sounds really good.” After tweaking some things here and there, Jay and Link walked in the room.

“Hey Yankee,” said Jay with a grin plastered on his face.

“So, you made it home safe after all huh, Jersey?” he laughed and shook his head as he walked over to his bass leaning against the wall. Link looked at Kurt and Kurt looked at Link.

“Did I miss something?” asked Link.

“Yeah…” Kurt said looking at us suspiciously. Then Jay woke up and said

“Oh yeah I took her out for tea last night after she got off from work.  To make it up to for how we acted.”

“So, what you’re saying is that you went on a date?” Link said.  Without a moment’s hesitation, Jay chucked his bottle of water at Link.  Link jumped but it still hit him in the stomach.  He started laughing hysterically and ran out of the room with Jay high tailing after him.  Kurt and I stared after them laughing.

“Jay finally has a tea buddy.” He shook his head and looked back down at the notebook. “Bout time. Oh and whatever he told you about me, I can assure you it’s a lie.”

“Oh so you being a really good brother and talented singer is a lie?” He looked up at me

“Well some things he says are a lie. But those aren’t” I laughed at him and said

“Okay.” Before we could continue, Link walked back in the room holding Jay’s glasses.  He stood near the door, waiting for Jay to catch up.  Kurt and I stared at him, waiting for an explanation.

“All is fair in love and war.” I looked at him skeptically

“Love?” I asked and he scratched his head after a moment of thought.

“Just war,” he said after he finished thinking.

Kurt asked “Please tell me you didn’t take his glasses away from him when he was near sharp objects or a staircase.”  Link scratched his head again and Kurt put his guitar down, prepared to beat the snot out of him.

“No…and here he comes.” Link said as he peered out the glass door.  And moments later, Jay came stumbling to the door with his eyes squinted and both arms out stretched.  He reached for the door handle but missed and then as he came into the room he cussed under his breath.  He looked adorable without his glasses!

“If you don’t give me my glasses back, I’m gonna beat you to death with your own drum sticks.” Link laughed at the threat but handed him the glasses.  Kurt picked his guitar back up and looked back to the notebook.

“Okay, let’s start practicing,” he sai.  Link went over to the drums that were in the corner of the room and Jay went to get his base as he cleaned the lenses on his glasses.  I went over to the amp and plugged my guitar in.  Kurt just sat on his stool staring at the notebook as he went over the song in his head.
