The car ride back to NYC wasn’t as much of an adventure as the trip to Rochester.  We didn’t run into my old band at the rest stop or talk about much either since we were still tiered from the night before.  But when we did talk there was plenty of teasing from Link and Kurt.  Apparently, when I had fallen asleep on the bench last night, I was resting my head on Jay’s shoulder.  He carried me to the car when they woke him up and I rested my head on his lap the rest of the way to the motel.  Jay told them what had happened and tried his best to cover for me.  He kept saying that it was because I was nauseas still and that I needed to rest.  It was kind of sweet that he was defending me like that, even thought it was to save himself too.

Before I knew it, we were five minutes from the studio's parking lot and I was waking everyone from their slumber.  Well, just Jay.  I quietly shook him awake and when i had his attention I hitched my thumb towards the back seat where Link and Kurt were still out like lights.  I put my index finger to my lips and flashed a devious grin as I carfully unzipped my backpack.  On top was Jay's blow horn, and once his eye caught it he snickered and took it.  With a smirk he twisted in his seat so that the horn was right between the sleeping beauties heads.  With my ears covered and my eyes on them he pressed down on it releaseing the loud noise.

Link and Kurt jumped awake at the same time, only to knock heads and give out a few screams of panic.  As they glared at each other for the head bumps they quickly turned their attention to Jay and I.  "You bastard!"  Kurt screamed.  He lunged forward, reaching for the horn as he said "I'll shove it down your throat!"

Jay responded by sounding it off in his brothers face, which only made matters worse.  Link and I busted into laughter as the bickering continued with a wide range of cussing from Kurt and only sirens from Jay.  Before it got too physical Link pulled Kurt back by yanking his jacket.  With a huff, Kurt sat back in his seat, folding his arms across his chest and glaring Jay and I down.

As we pulled into the lot I zipped up my back pack and sat forward in my seat, ready to get out of the crammed van.  My legs were dying for a stretching and I could imagine the boys were too.  Without a second delay I flung the van door open as it rolled to a stop, and lept out of the door.  The boys quickly followed and we all stretched our limbs as inhaled the crisp New York City air.

All of us proceded to get our bags and instruments out of the back with the help of the driver.  We'd have to take up the amps and other sound equitment to the room but we could probably make it in two trips. We left our bags in the van and grabbed the drums and other stuff and headed for the buildings back door.  With my hands full i couldn't open the door and i doubted anyone else could.  So, what better way to open it then kicking it open?  With one swift movment i hit the handicap signed button with my foot and watched as the door opened before me.  As i walked through the doorway with a smile of success i heard a whistle from behind me.

I turned my head to see Link grinning and me. "Nice kick there karate kid."  I gave him a playful wink only to be causht off guard by what I saw behind him.  Jay was whereing this irritated look that i couldn't quite place.  As i noticed Kurt laughing beside him, I figured that it was because they were just bickering, and continued to walk towards the elevator without a second thought.  When Link caught up to me i asked

"Do we need to make a second trip?"  he shook his head and said

"I just have to bring up acouple more parts of my drum set but you guys can leave."  The elevator doors finally opened and Link and I pilled in.  I don't know where the others disappeared to but they had just been behind us.  Before they were able to reach the elevator the doors closed and we were on our way up.
