As I stepped up to my apartment door I realized that I forgot my phone at the studio.  I debated with myself as I opened the front door to the building, whether I should go back or not.  Since we would be practicing tomorrow I decided to just leave it there.  I ran up to my apartment and quickly opened the door, welcomed by the warm air.  I threw my bag down and ran to my acoustic guitar that I had been strumming on this morning.

When we’d been practicing, this was all I was thinking about. I just wanted to play my new song over and over again.  I practiced it a few times before I went on my laptop and signed onto my webcam.  I almost squealed because Frank was online.  I quickly called him and put my guitar back on my lap.  A second later, Frank was on the screen in his uniform.  I smiled at him and he yelled back

“Eva! How are ya’ baby girl?” he always called me that and was the only one that ever did.  I loved hearing those words slip from his lips.

“Frank!” I yelled back.  He laughed at my excitment and noticed the guitar in my lap.

“How’s the band thing going?”

“Great.  I wrote a new song.  Do you wanna listen?” He nodded

“I’m surprised you even ask anymore.” I laughed at him and took a deep breath.  I started plucking at the chords and sang out the lyrics with all of my heart.  It was full of passion and hatred that had been building up inside for five years.  I watched Frank’s face turn soft because I knew that he saw through each metaphor i sang.  When I was done Frank sat there silent for a moment.  “Eva…that was awesome.  I’m so proud of you.”  Before Frank could say anything else my front door flew open.

Startled, I dropped my guitar and fell off of the chair.  As I hit the ground and let out a yelp Frank asked me in a panic “What’s wrong? Eva?!” I couldn’t answer his plead because I was scared speechless.  I started to breathe again when Jay came scrambling towards me.  I put my hand over my heart and closed my eyes to try and calm myself down. Jay put his hands on my shoulders and shook me.

“What was that song?  Since when can you sing?  Do it again!” I opened my eyes and saw Kurt walking towards me in awe.  I guess they were listening to me sing. Wait...THEY HEARD ME SING?!

“Why were you listening to me!? How did you get inside? Why are you here?!” I yelled back.  Frank yelled from the computer

“Who the hell are you guys?!” Kurt looked at the screen and waved.

“I’m Kurt, her band mate.  That’s Jay, the other band member.  Who are you?”

“I’m her brother, Frank. Eva are you okay?” I stood up and so did Jay.

“Yeah I’m fine,” i muttered as i brushed myself off.

“Sorry for scaring you but that song was really good.” I wanted to hit them over the head with my guitar for ease dropping.  Then he took my phone out of his pocket which kep me from doing so. “You left this at the studio.  I was just coming to return it and we heard you singing so we kind of… sort of just listened.” He rubbed the back of his neck as if he were embarrassed to admit that they were ease dropping.

I looked at Frank, disappointed that our conversation was interrupted. “I’ve gotta go Frank. Sorry. I’ll call you later. Kay?” he nodded and gave the boys a stern look.

“Be careful.  I’ll talk to you later kid.”  At that he waved and the screen went black.  I turned to look at them and Kurt said

“Why are you in a band if you can sing?  You could have gone solo like Taylor Swift or something.” I looked at Kurt.
