jin was determined to make it to the cafeteria first. he knew that the wicked witch of the cafe had gym before lunch and it would take her a while to shower, dress and head over to the cafeteria.

jin didn't even know the name of the girl, just that they had one thing in common: the need for the last chocolate chip cookie.

jin was a peaceful person, the type of person to make everyone smile and was against violence in any way.

but when he had transferred to america but a mere five months ago, a whole new side of him, a side he hadn't even been aware of, came out and it was like the peaceful jin was swallowed whole and was slowly being turned into crap.

jin was short with people now, private and cautious. he hadn't been so easy going anymore and wasn't able to trust easily either.

all because of her.

jin didn't know why he allowed such a spiteful person to influence his personality to do a complete 180, but he didn't like it and for that he didn't like her.

jin assumes that this hatred began when he first started school in rainy seattle. his clothes were sopping wet, his hair was a mess and he smelled like a wet dog. but that wasn't bad, considering a lanky junior, named chanyeol, also a transfer from korea, lent some clothes to jin for the day. considering chanyeol and jin were about the same height, the clothes fit fine, and as for the smell, the detergent chanyeol's mother had used worked wonders. jin's hair managed to dry and jin was able to make it look like a sexy "i just woke up" look. girls were already fawning over the new boy, and jin thought things were turning up.

until lunch.

when lunch came, chanyeol and jin walked into the canteen where noisy teens were gathering their food and communicating amongst one another about the latest gossip, or tv show or sports team. jin couldn't quite grasp what was so entertaining about a bachelor giving a rose to "a slut who didn't deserve it". but he found it amusing how girls fawned over the bachelors, as if they had a shot.

chanyeol and jin joined the lunch line to the farthest side, two lines being set only to be rejoined at the register. jin picked out a slice of cheese pizza and was eyeing the chocolate chip cookies at the register. jin couldn't wait to try them.

"they're the lunch ladies specialty. she bakes cookies everyday for us. not enough, but i guess it's better than not at all," chanyeol explained as they moved further and further to the register.

after chanyeol had gone up to pay, he grabbed two cookies, leaving one in the basket. jin smiled and as he reached for the last cookie, so did another hand. jin's hand met with a smaller, more delicate, hand and his head trailed up to the hands owner.

a girl, about three quarters of his size, stood with a frown on her beautiful features.

"look kid, i don't know who you are, but that cookie is mine. so let go," the girl snapped.

jin could see she was having a bad day so he let her have it. the girl muttered a rushed thank you before paying for everything and heading off. jin followed her actions, paying and rushing off, and noticed the girl wasn't in the canteen.

why has she left? why was she in a bad mood?

little did jin know that day, that those questions were a few of many to come.

because the next day, as jin reached for the last cookie, so did she. and jin wasn't ready to give it up again.

so they fought and soon the routine followed. the two would fight, the girl would snatch the last cookie away sneakily, she would pay and dash off, then poor chanyeol was forced to listen to jin mutter about how unreasonable she was and chanyeol would laugh before handing off his usual second cookie to him, to which would silence jin.

but chanyeol didn't realize that in jin's head, he had been stabbing the girl with the last cookie in his head.

one day, jin would mutter in his head, one day i will get the last cookie. and i will eat it in front of her and that cookie will be the best damn cookie i have ever had and she will miss out on that.

one day ...
