the group met up at the park jin had spotted jay, where they shared the cookie they foolishly fought over. looking back at it now, jin felt horrible for fighting over something so simple as a chocolate chip cookie. but without those cookies, he wouldn't have met jay. he was so thankful for that.

the four of them sat at a picnic table, silence blanketing them, creating a dramatic build up to what jin had to say.

after jin had effortlessly spoke about his father, the four agreed to meet up after to school to discuss matters.

and here they all were, waiting for someone to break the ice.

"so..." chanyeol sputtered, his brain tired of thinking and re-thinking of conversation starters.

"look, what i'm about to say... i don't expect any pity or comfort. i'm fine and have come to terms with who my father was and where i come from. i'm saying this to prove a point," jin said. jay had never heard such a serious and empty tone come from jay. it was like a whole new side of jin was born and was ready to play with the dangerous flames sparked by jay's past.

a chorus of 'okay's' bounced around and jin nodded firmly before starting.

"when my mother was young, she met a man who she was absolutely in love with. they ended up getting married and running away to a different part of south korea together. but the only fault in their marriage was the fact that my mother couldn't get pregnant. no matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't work. one night, she went out with some of her co-workers and she got absolutely hammered. she seen a man who, in her words, was drop dead gorgeous. they did the deed and she woke up in her room alone. four months later, my mother found out she was pregnant, but she quickly learned i didn't belong to the man she married. my mother tried to cover up for as long as she could, but when the truth came out, the man who got my mom pregnant was murdered mercilessly. the cops arrested my step-father and put him in prison for ten years... about two years ago, after his release he set out to find my mother and i, he found us and made contact with me. but it got scary and fast... so we had to leave. one day, he was so caught up in debt with loan sharks, from trying to find us, of course he needed money to hire investigators and spies, that the loan sharks just killed him. we left before they could plan the funeral."

the table was silent. jin had his eyes tightly shut, thinking back to all the events that occurred in his life. the harsh names is classmates called him because of his reckless step father. the amount of punches and kicks sent his way because the other children feared he'd be like the man that was incarcerated at the time.

"jin.." jay murmured softly.

"go ahead, jay. look at me the way you look at yourself. i'm a monster. a murderer. the title was slapped onto my name before i even took my first breath. but you, jay. you did nothing wrong. i wish you could see that," jin sighed.

"i don't know why you think so highly of me. that man, technically speaking, isn't your father. you don't have his blood running in your veins... you're not the son of a murderer. you're you, and that's all you could be," jay whispered.

jin looked up to meet jay's gaze, shocked to see the close proximity. jay's eyes flickered from jin's eyes to his plush pink lips and she couldn't help the single thought that knocked the air from her lungs.

'i want to kiss him.'

so she did. and she kissed him with so much passion, that jin's eyes widened from shock before slowly shutting, embracing the moment.

and it was true. sometimes the best moments in life are embraced with your eyes closed.

in that moment, jin and jay were one.

they were meant to be something.

they were meant to conquer the obstacles before them together, alongside their two other companions of course.

but right then and there, nothing was an obstacle.

and the only thing running through jin's head was that he couldn't be more glad that he fought jay for the last cookie.
