Zayn
Being locked on the fifth floor of Harrods, in the dark, can be a good or a bad thing; depending on who you're locked in with. For example, Brittany? Good. Unbelievably good. Niall? Bad. Horribly bad. Avery? Not that bad. Violet?
Worst thing ever.
Well, so I thought. But up until just now, things haven't been going as I expected. They've been going kind of ... better. We're actually getting along, which is crazy. Maybe it's just the circumstances; the situation that we're in. But things are okay. Well, until the lights went out. Things might change now.
"You're what?" I ask, wondering if I've just misheard what Violet's said. I can't see her at all, but I can sure as shit hear her. I've never heard breathing, and teeth chattering, so loud.
"Zayn, I-I'm freaking out. I'm not kidding around about this," she replies in a light squeal.
I just stay still. Violet's scared of the dark? I hesitate, and then ... laugh. And it's not just a small laugh, it's the loudest, most meaningful, laugh I've ever done. And I can't stop.
"Zayn!" Violet shrieks. "Are you laughing at me?!"
Violet's scared of the dark? And this whole time she's been making fun of me for being scared of heights, when all along she's been scared of the freaking dark. The dark. I mean, I'm sure I was scared of the dark; when I was three.
"Stop it!" She cries.
I'm doubling over, my hands on my chest and my mouth sore. I can't believe it. This is the best thing I've ever heard. "The dark?" I manage to choke out. "You're scared of the dark?"
"Shut up," she snaps.
I cover myself to try and stifle my laughter.
"Where are you? Are you still here?"
I don't reply.
"Zayn!"
I creep forwards. I know exactly where I am, and where Violet is. I slide up against the shelf so that I should be approximately behind her. I hold out my hands and reach out for her body. I touch it gingerly and she screams.
I start laughing again.
"I hate you!" She screams, and I feel a hand smack me. "Ihateyouihateyouihateyou."
"I think you owe me an apology, Princess," I say, folding my arms across my chest, even though she can't even see.
"No way," she huffs.
"Alright," I say. "Have fun navigating yourself around in the dark." I step backwards, making my footsteps as loud as they can go so she knows.
