November 12th

Ariana Grande

I wake up next to Justin (surprise, surprise) and take the towel off my head.

"Hey baby girl. Feel better?" He says.

I shrug, sitting up. A wave of nausea rushes through me and I lay back down.

"I hate being sick." I say, causing Justin to chuckle.

"Are you going to class tomorrow?" He says, pushing some of my hair off my forehead.

"Maybe. If I get better, yes."

"You probably will. If you don't I'll stay here with you."

"You don't need to. I can take care of myself, you know."

"Yes, but I don't wanna go to class."

"Whatever, you can stay. I can't ever say no to you."

"No one can." I roll my eyes and try to sit up again.

"What are you doing?" He says as I close my eyes, sitting up.

"Trying not to puke on your bed."

"Please don't."

"I can't help it. My stomach hurts and my head hurts and I'm nauseous. I might have the flu."

"Did you get a flu shot?"

"Yeah."

"Then you don't have the flu."

"You're so stupid. Just because you get a flu shot, doesn't mean you won't get the flu. It's like telling a terrorist not to terrorize an airport. That doesn't mean they're not going to."

I get out of bed and immediately fall to the floor.

"Whoa. Are you ok?"

"No." Justin walks around the bed and picks me up.

"Ow. Justin, you're squeezing my stomach. Please, let go." I groan as he places me back on the bed.

"Sorry, baby girl. I don't know how to take care of you." He says as I nod.

"Oh shit, cramps! My stomach. Fuck!" I hold my stomach for 5 minutes until the pain dies down.

"Baby girl, I think you really have the flu. Do you wanna go to the nurse?" I nod and he picks me up, gently this time.

He walks to the nurse's building and we go inside, once again the only ones there.

"Hello. What seems to be the problem?" The desk worker says.

"We think she has the flu. Can you check?"

"Yeah, sure. Follow me." We go into the same room we're always in and Justin lays me on the bed.

"Can you check on the baby too?" I ask.

"Of course. Hold on just a second." She walks out of the room and closes the door.

5 minutes later, she walks back in with her clipboard.

"You must be Ariana?"

"Yeah."

"That's a beautiful name. I was thinking about naming my daughter that, but I decided on Lily."

"Thank you." I feel something sting in my stomach, but ignore it.

"She's very pretty, just like you." She walks over to the counter and I see a syringe full of blood in her hand.

"Is that my blood?"

"Partly."

"Where'd you get it?"

"From your stomach."

"When? I don't remember..." I trail off, piecing together the sting and the weird conversation.

"Oh. You're good."

"I've been doing it for 15 years. I'm gonna go check this out then I'll be back to see if you're sick." She walks out and Justin laughs.

"You saw?"

"Duh. It was funny to see how clueless you were."

10 minutes later, the nurse comes back in.

"The baby's fine. It's forming beautifully, might I add. Just need to check for the flu."

"How do you do that?"

"With this." She pulls a long cotton swab out of the jar on the counter and Justin laughs.

I send him a death glare and he looks down.

"There's 2 ways to do this: down your throat or up your nose. Which one do you prefer?"

"Shit." I mutter.

"I know, it's not pleasant. But it has to be done."

"Up my nose, I guess."

"That's probably the easiest. You might throw up when I'm done. This causes lots of coughing."

"Great." I sigh and she sends a sympathetic smile my way.

"Are you ready?" I close my eyes and nod.

I feel the swab go up my nose, farther then expected. (A/N Just saying, if you didn't know, they actually do this. It happened to me when I had flu and it was not fun. It hurts and it's disgusting.)

"Ow, that fucking hurts."

"I know, I'm sorry. Just a few seconds."

"Done." She pulls it out and I start coughing.

"I'll be back." She says, putting the swab in a bag before walking out.

"Do you think you're gonna throw up?" Justin says.

I shake my head, coughing for a full 5 minutes before the nurse comes back in.

"You're part of the lucky ones." (A/N I wasn't.)

"You do have the flu. Take her back and make sure she drinks lots of water and gets lots of rest. It should be over in a couple days. Orange juice helps too. If it's still going on in 9-11 days, bring her back in and we'll check it out."

"Thank you. I'll try my best." Justin says, carrying me back to his dorm.

"Well, baby girl, I guess we won't be going to class until after Thanksgiving. Next Friday is our last class before break." I nod.

"You're welcome." I say weakly.

"Thank you. Hopefully you get better soon."
