"What are you gonna get me?" Jazmyn says as I put on my jacket.
"You'll see on Christmas."
"But I wanna see now."
"Then it wouldn't be a Christmas present. We'll be back." Me and Justin walk outside and to the car.
"Can I know what you're gonna get me?" He says, pulling out of the driveway.
"Sure."
"Really?"
"No."
At The Mall
"I'll see you in an hour at this spot. And don't follow me."
"How'd you know?" He says sarcastically.
"Shut up." I make my way to the jewelry store to buy a bracelet for Pattie.
"Welcome to Tiffany and Co. Can I help you with anything?"
"I'm looking for a bracelet and a necklace with a J on it."
"Well, we have plenty of those. Follow me. So, how much are you looking to spend?"
"Oh, it doesn't matter."
"OK, how about this one for the necklace?" She takes a necklace from the display and hands it to me.
"This is perfect. She'll love it."
"Great. That's $175 plus tax. So it'll probably round up to around $200."
I know how to do math.
"Ok. And I saw this when I first came in." I lead her over to another display with difrerent bracelets in it.
"This one." I point at it through the glass and she takes it out.
"Great choice. Would you like to buy it?"
"Yes. How much?"
"$500 plus tax."
"OK. I think that's it. Except I really like this ring. Its beautiful. But I'm not gonna get it."
"Come right over here." We walk to the cash register and she does whatever you have to do ring up jewelry because I have no idea.
"Your total is $727.63. Would you like me to wrap them for you?" I slide my card in the thingy-ma-bob and put in my pin number.
"Sure. Thanks." She wraps the two boxes while I look at the rings.
"Thank you for shopping with us today. Hope to see you again." I smile and walk out, heading to Foot Locker to get some of those ugly shoes that Justin likes and some shoes for Jax.
I buy a pair of Jordan's and a pair of Lebron's. While walking back to the front of the mall, I receive a text from Justin.

I put my phone away without bothering to read his reply and try my best to keep from going into Starbucks.
"Took you long enough. What'd you get me?"
"You'll find out soon enough. Lucky for you, I had them wrap it before I left."
"Fine. Can I see what you got my mom and Jazzy?"
"That's wrapped too. I mean, did you honestly expect me to wrap anything myself?"
"I don't know. Maybe." I put Justin's shoes in the backseat and get in the passenger.
"Well I wasn't going to. Should I put the kids' money on a gift card or a credit card?"
"Probably a credit card. They'll love that. It'll make them feel official."
Back At Home
"What'd you get me?" Jazmyn says.
"How many time to I have to tell you not until Christmas?"
"A million."
"Well I'm not. You can put this stuff under the tree, though." She beams and takes all 5 boxes to the tree.
"Why can't it be Christmas already?" She says from the living room.
