Chapter 6- The Rumor

As Ella walked through the doors of the school people started giving her wired looks while pointing and laughing. She knew something was up.

Ignoring the attention, she walked towards her classroom where the students started giggling at her. Ella put her back pack in her cubby and sat down at her desk to find the word "brainless" painted on the surface of her desk. She sighed and covered it up with her notebook.

Just as the bell rang students flooded into the class room snickering at Ella. Finally Billy Hanks walked up to her desk with Stella Evans laughing. "So the zombies soared you then!" Billy giggled. Ella pretend to not know what he was talking about. "What zombies?"

Stella snickered and said, "of course you don't know since they ate your brain!" Ella frowned and sat her head in the desk as the two went to their desks.

During class some kids threw crumpled papers at her head. When she opened the papers mean awing of zombies eating her caught her eye. She groaned something in Zombish then threw the papers away.

When lunch came kids flicked Ella in the back of the head saying her head sounded hallow then walking away laughing. After lunch they returned to class where a drawing of Ella's brains appeared on the chalk board. Ella was having a rough day and just wanted to go see Jasper and his brothers.

While the teacher drew a diagram of a broom stick on the chalk board Ella was off doodling Jasper, Quincey, Iggy and Axe in her notebook when Billy snatched the notebook from her and chuckled at it. "Are these the zombies that ate your brain?"

Ella's face turned red as she swiped the notebook back. "No."

The rest of the school day Ella learned the basic parts of a broom stick and was pick on several more times. By the end she was on the verge of crying. When the bell rang she quickly walked out of the classroom where a sea of students blocked her way to the door. She groaned and pushed her way through the crowd when so thing pushed her into the wall.

She fell down as he glasses tumbled off her nose onto the ground. Ella hurried and picked them up before someone could crush them. As her vision cleared she saw Stella and Billy standing over her. "Going to go find your brains! Good luck since you have none!" Stella grinned.

Billy stuck his hands in front of him and moaned, "look at me! I'm the zombie who ate Ella's braaaiiinnnsss!" Stella and Billy laughed as Ella stood up and passed them. Billy laughed and pushed her causing her to crash into some other students. "Hey! Watch it, brainless!" A student snapped. "Sorry" Ella said quickly exiting the school.

Ella walked away from the school finally seeing the graveyard in view. She sniffed and rushed down the path deciding just to head home instead if seeing Jasper and his brothers. She was to sad to see anyone.

Tears streamed down Ella's face as Jasper, Iggy, Quincey and Axes headstone appeared. Ella squeezed her eyes shut and passed by when something grabbed her ankle.

She glanced down to see a hand sticking out of the ground gripping her ankle. Ella yelped as it pulled her into the ground. As the space opened up she landed on the hard ground in the zombies house.

Jasper looked down on her and smiled. Ella didn't smile back though. She just stood up and brushed herself off when Iggy shuffled behind her and pulled something if her back. He held up a piece of paper the said, "brainless."

Ella frowned and fell down and bursted into tears. She buried her face in her lap and she sobbed. Iggy frowned and leaned over to Jasper and grunted, "did I do something wrong?"

Quincey sat up on the couch and said, "hey, hey! What's the matter!" Ella shook her head without reply. Jasper sat down next to Ella as she lifted up her pale face. He wiped the tears from her eyes and said, "tell the zombies what wrong. We can help."

Ella sniffed and said, "why is everyone so mean to me? They think I'm brainless when you guys appeared and scared Billy away. He told everyone that you guys ate my brain. Now everyone is picking on me more than normal."

"Why do I have a feeling that this is our fault" Iggy groaned. Jasper frowned and said, "it's going to be okay. It will disappear in good time. Your just gonna have to hang in there. I kinda wish I could do something to help."

"We can eat the bullies brains! Then they'll be the Brian less ones" Quincey suggested. Ella sighed and sat her face on her knees. Jasper sighed and footed close to her and gave her an awkward hug.

Ella lifted her head and said, "don't feel bad, but you don't hug very good." Jasper laughed and released Ella. "Yeah. I failed at the subject hugging and other physical contact."

Ella laughed as Jasper grinned at the sight of Ella's smile. "See! All you need us a good laugh and maybe some of those yummy treats to turn a day from bad to good." Ella laughed and pulled out some Rice Krispe treats from her back pack. Jasper, Iggy and Quincey grinned and shuffled over to her.

"Hey Axe! Get in here! We got some of those yummy treats!" Jasper yelled with his mouth full. Axe shuffled into the room instantly shooting down Ella with the creepy stare. She gulped and leaned over to Japer. "Are you sure Axe likes me? He looks like he wants to eat my brains."

Jasper laughed as Axe slowly sat down across from them without taking he eyes off Ella. "Na. He doesn't have to best friendly approach, but he's friendly. Isn't that right, Axe? You don't want to hurt Ella right?"

Axe slowly turned his eyes towards Jasper made a small grunting noise then turned his attention back to Ella. "He says your hair smells nice" Japer said to Ella. She frowned and said, "how does he know what my hair smells like?"

Axe gave a slight smile then went back to his usually face expression.

Ella shifted in her spot uncomfortably then finished eating a Rice Krispe treat. Jasper taught Ella some more Zombish until it was time for Ella to go home.

After Ella left Jasper realized she left her back pack and decided to return it with his brothers. When they got to Ella's house they found something they weren't expecting. And it terrified them.
