Chapter 21- At Last We Meet

Ella stayed with Ingrid for about a week before she could get on her legs again. The day was grey and clouds smudged across the sky as if someone was doing a large finger paint for everyone to see.

Jasper and his brothers stayed home and planned a surprise party for Ella to cheer her up. Ella didn't know something bigger than a surprise party was coming up for here though.

Ella stepped onto the front porch of Ingrid's house and turned back to her and said, "thank you for helping me. It really means a lot." Ingrid smiled and leaned against the door frame. "No problem, sweet heart. Are you sure you don't want me to walk you home?"

Ella shook head and said, "Na. I can handle it. But thanks anyway." Ingrid smiled and waved to Ella as she skipped down the stairs and headed off to Jasper and his brothers graves.

While walking she got a cold chill sent down her spine causing her to stop in her steps and gaze around suspiciously. Her eyes circled the graveyard when they stopped on a figure that stood in the distance, up the path in front of Ella. She could have sworn that the woman wasn't there before.

Confused, Ella walked casually towards the woman, pretending that she wasn't there. Then the woman began to walk towards Ella. Then she started to run.

Ella could hear the woman's high heels click against the ground as she got closer to Ella. Soon, Ella could tell that was the woman was the one by the bus the other day.

Before Ella could even move away, the woman ran up to her and gave her a warm hug. "Ella!" Ella stood there unsure what to do about the mysterious woman hugging her.

The woman scooted back, giving Ella a good look at her face. She was beautiful. Long black hair that curled at the bottom and crystal green eyes that sparkled just right. Her lips were a bright red and her teeth looked like a super models. Everything seemed perfect about her, and familiar.

The woman put her hands up to Ella's cheeks, gently stroking with her long finger nails. "Oh Ella. Look at you. You have your fathers freckles."

Ella's heart stopped as she gazed at this woman. Finally Ella got the courage to speak. "M-mom?" The word didn't feel right in her mouth. Probably because that only the second time she ever spoke that word. Miranda would never let her call her mom. If Ella did, a slap on the head was given.

The woman smiled a beautiful smile and brushed Ella's hair out of her face. "Yes, Ella. It's me." Ella gulped as the woman squeezed Ella's cold hands.

"How? What?" Ella croaked. The woman smiled and said, "you must be very confused right now. Let me enlighten you. I left you on the door step of Frederick and Miranda Snizer the February after you were born. Your a witch and your birthday is on Halloween. Your the daughter of the Wicked Witch, Belinda Maryweather and sorcerer, Samson Maryweather."

That was enough to convince Ella. Then again, Ella is only eight. "Your the Wicked Witch" Ella stated. The woman nodded with a small smile. Ella frowned and said, "but your not green or scary. You don't have a big nose with a wart on it and don't you eat children?"

The woman gave a cackled and said, "is that what everyone thinks of me? Well I guess I better leave a better reputation when I go around turning people into toads."

Ella giggled then looked at her so called mother. "If you my mom, then why' doubt leave me with those nasty people!" Belinda frowned and squeezed Ella's hands tighter. "I'm so sorry, pumpkin. I didn't want you to make the same mistakes I made. Because of those mistakes that I can't undo, I'm pretty whacked up. I wanted you to grow up to be a magnificent witch who won't make the mistakes I made."

Ella sniffed, holding back tears. "But those people were mean to me! They beat me up and kicked me and called me names! How is that better?"

Belinda smiled and said, "because ether way, your innocent. Your father and I decided it was best to keep you away from us where we could drag you into trouble and evil. I never wanted that for you, sweetie."

Ella looked down at the ground when the woman left her chin up and said, "word on the street you escaped those mean people and found yourselves four gentlemen to live with instead."

"How'd you find out?" Ella asked. Belinda smiled and cocked her head backwards where Jasper and his brothers stood confused. "I have a way on checking up on my little witch."

Ella smiled and hugged the woman. Belinda grasped Ella tears streaming down her face. "I'm so sorry I left you in such a wretched place. You didn't deserve any of the torture you went through. I'm going to make it up to you though."

Ella stood back as her mom pulled out a key necklace from under her shirt. She took it off her head and wrapped it around Ella's neck instead. "This key will take you somewhere safe where you and your friends can stay where no one will hurt you, okay?"

With her tiny hands, Ella grasped the old, stone key and smiled. "Thank you." Belinda kissed Ella on the forehead and said, "we'll see each other again soon. I promise. But for right now how about you go find out where that key go's to, okay."

Ella grinned at the Wicked Witch and nodded. "Thank you." Belinda smiled and said, "you are so brave. Stay like that, because life isn't over yet. I have faith in you."

The woman turned towards Jasper and his brother and said, "you take care of my pumpkin, ya hear!" Confused, they all sheepishly nodded their heads.

Belinda grinned and stood up straight and said, "goodbye, darling. Keep ahold on that key, got it?" Ella nodded as she winked and said. "Well got to go. When time flys, go catch it!" She crinkled her nose causing her to vanish within a poof of smoke.

Jasper and his brothers then ran up to Ella babbling with questions. "Who was that?" Ella grinned still holding onto the key. "My mom. But that's not the point right now! We got to go find out where this key leads to!"
