Chapter 18- Turning Back a The Clock

Ella woke up to- well you know what she woke up too! Ella didn't scream or even move. She just smiled and yawned, "good morning, Axe." Axe didn't reply. He just- well, you know.

Ella sat up and stretched her arms, then sliding out from under the blankets and shuffling into the small kitchen with Axe following her.

On her tip toes, Ella opened a can it and took out the only box of cereal they could get and poured her some into a paper bowl with a plastic spoon. Since they don't have money, they find whatever the can for Ella to eat.

As Ella sat down at the table, Jasper, Quincey and Iggy opened the door and came in arguing with each other. "I told you that if you went on the subway you'd scare someone!" Iggy groaned. Quincey rolled his eyes and said, "I thought people were going to think we went to a late Halloween party or something!"

Ella smiled and said, "morning." Jasper sighed and sat down at the table listening to his brothers argue. "Even when we die they still fight."

"They must have been something when they were alive" Ella giggled. Jasper smiled and nodded thinking of the memories.

Ella frowned and gulped nervously. "Um... I'm not sure if I should ask but, how'd you guys become zombies?" Jasper looked at Ella with shock as the noise in the room died down. Everyone looked at her with wide eyes when Ella stuttered, "you don't have to tell me."

Jasper sighed and said, "no. We should. You have lived with us for almost a month and a half. You should know our past-." Just then Axe got up and shuffled behind the couch were he curled up in a ball.

Ella jumped then said, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry I made you sad, Axe! You don't have to talk about it! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Iggy groaned and sat down on the couch. "Na. It's fine. He's a big baby when the subject comes up." That resulted in Axe biting Iggy's ankle once again.

Jasper had a serious look on his face when he stood up and said, "come on. I have something to show you." Ella followed Jasper up the surface with his brothers.

All five of them walked over to Jasper and his brothers headstones in silence. Jasper sighed and pointed at the tomb stones across the path from his.

Ella glanced at three headstone. The first one was named Joey Samuels. The second one had the name Celeste Samuels engraved in while the last one said Felicity Samuels.

Ella never really took the time to explore the other gravestones around the cemetery. She should have though.

"The first one is our dad. The very last one is our mothers and the middle one-." Jasper choked up. Him and his brothers had a sad look on their faces when Jasper finally said, "that's our little sister. Cel. That's what we called her at least."

Ella turned to the stone and frowned. The date said "Born: 1936, Died: 1946". "She died the same year as you, but- wait! She would have had to be eight!"

Jasper slowly nodded his head. Ella gulped and turned to the stone again. "What happened, Jasper? How come your sister you four died the same year?

With a shaky breath he said, "It was at night. My brothers and I took Cel to a movie. On the way home a drunk driver was heading towards us as we were crossing the street. Cel saw it coming, but we didn't. I was in the cars oath when she quickly pushed me out of the cars path and she took the blow instead..." Jasper didn't say anything for a moment when he cried, "she died right in my hands. It was awful. I had to watch my little sister die."

Ella quietly stood in the cold imaging the pain he must have felt when Jasper said, "then the following month came and my brothers and I went to visit her grave alone and that's when it happen. It was so quick. At first I didn't know what was happening. They just snuck up on us then so much pain filled my body. I was sure I was dead."

Jasper paused and took a deep breath of the cold November air and continued. "I remember lying on the ground covered in cold blood. My body ached. It felt like my head was spinning. Then I reached out for my brothers. Nothing happened. Finally I remember three hands grabbing into mine as our world turned black. Our parents thought we'd got mugged. Not even close."

Ella sniffed then hugged Jasper's waist. "That's a really sad story!" Ella cried when Jasper said, "hey! Hey! Don't cry! It's fine! It's fine!"

Ella wiped the idea tears from her eyes and stepped back. "I'm sorry. Cel must have been special to you."

Jasper, Iggy, Quincey and Axe nodded. "She was just like you. Well, she wasn't a witch, but still. She was sweet, nice, funny and cute." Jasper smiled.

Ella paused then blushed saying, "golly. I bet your sister was way better than me. I she had four older brothers like you, she must have been amazing." Jasper laughed and nudged Ella. "Now your flattering us."

Ella grabbed Jasper's hand and Iggy's hand and lead all four of them away from the grave. "I like you guys. You guys are fun. We're gonna be together forever."
