Chapter Fourteen

Felicite's POV

It felt agonisingly slow as Louisa opened the door. I was restraining myself from hopping from one foot to another. I was so damn nervous of what Carter would think. Would he think I'm pretty? Ugly? Fat? Weird? Do I even suit this outfit? Will I be able to walk in these heels? Will he notice my sweaty hands? What if I get boob sweat from dancing?!?! Can I even get boob sweat? Would he notice if I did? What about---?

"Why hello there boys. How are you this fiiine evening" Louisa says whilst trying to look casual against the side of the door. At least, it would of looked casual had she not moved and fallen backwards.

Keegan quickly made a grab for her hand and stopped her moments before hitting the floor. We all just started in shock for a while, trying to grasp at how quick that was before letting it go and continuing with our evening.

For the first time this night I looked at Carter and immediately locked eyes with him. They were such a dashing shade of green I almost got lost in them. Carter leaned forward and whispered in my ear "Change your eye colour back to yours, love. I know mine are beautiful but I like yours much better" a light blush covered my cheeks before I focused on making my eyes gold. "Much better" he said before leaning back and winking at me.

After a few minutes of mild chatting amongst the four of us, we made our way towards the dance hall which had been out of use for years. The students of the school had created myths and stories about it saying that ghosts, ghouls and poltergeists haunted it and that no one should dare enter its walls less they wish to be cursed for eternity. Let's just say the last bit really made the vampires wary of going in there.

I felt Carter lace his fingers between mine and grip tightly, "Don't worry, I doubt the teachers would let us anywhere near the place if it were haunted" I say and feel pride spread through me as I feel his hand relax against mine.

Many other students were heading towards the dance. Some with partners, some without and some with just a group of friends. Looking around I notice that all those with partners were with partners from their side of the war. Louisa and I were the only ones with 'other' partners. No, wait--I see Connor and Ryder just enter the dance hall with their partners Millie and Joanna. Thank God...

Walking through the doors I can definitely confirm that the dance hall was NOT haunted. When you enter through the doors you are immediately met with a long corridor. A dark red carpet covers the floor and bouquets of flowers and lights lay around the edge to create an aisle. Silk white banners were falling from the ceiling surrounding a crystal chandelier and stands of candles provide our light as we walk down the hall.

Silently Carter and I walk down the hall following the many other students. We were all awestruck that the rickety old "abandoned" dance hall was in fact a very beautiful, intricately designed building.

At the end of the hallway we were met with Mr Batchelor who looked at Carter and me weirdly. He went to open his mouth but quickly shut it before crossing our names off his list.

Once again we found ourselves shocked to see a ginormous ballroom. The walls were a shimmery gold and there had to be at least 8 chandeliers lining the ceiling. Large circular tables covered in rose petals were scattered around the edge of the ballroom, each with glasses and water pitchers. Gold, silver and ruby dust was falling from the ceiling but would disappear just before hitting our heads creating the illusion of a glitter shower. Doors to multiple balconies were open and the stars and moon could be seen as well as the breathtaking view of the school grounds. To put it in simple terms; it was magical.
