Alexander was slumped on the toilet lid, half of his mangled hair still managing to remain in his hair tie. John Laurens shook his head as he placed the first aid kit on the ledge of the sink, "You're ridiculous, Alexander." he sighed, "Absolutely ridiculous."

Alex grit his teeth and kept his head down as John took out an assortment of antibiotics, bandages, and gauze.

"This is going to hurt, asshole." John showered a soft rag with antibacterial spray then attacked the wounds on his boyfriend's face. Alex gasped through grit teeth and jolted his head back, flinching. "A little gentler, please?" He pleaded.

John sighed again and pulled the falling hair tie from Alexander's hair. Mumbling to himself, he gently pulled Alex's hair into a lopsided bun while checking the smaller boy's head for irregularities. "Is this dry blood?" John interrogated.

The rise in John's voice caused Alexander to flinch once again, "It's not mine. The blood is from Jefferson's nose, it was on his hand when he grabbed my hair." He defended himself.

John wanted to yell. Alexander promised to stop fighting! He wanted to scream in his boyfriend's face to verbally knock some sense into him, since physically knocking it in clearly wasn't working. However, he couldn't bring himself to. Alex's eyes gleamed in guilt and John knew that he'd receive an hour-long apology later on in the night.

John finished his examination and placed his left hand on the back of Alex's neck, "No bumps but that doesn't mean you're clear of a minor concussion. Don't lie to me this time about not experiencing symptoms." He spat the last sentence like daggers. Two fights ago, Alex passed out from a minor panic attack during his final exams when the words began blurring and dancing about his page. Luck was in his favor as the professor understood and allowed a retake of the test at a later date.

"I'm going to clean your cuts again, okay?"

John lifted Alex's head by placing two fingers under the younger boy's chin. He held the boy in place by cupping his neck and went about gently patting the wounds. John then strategically placed a miniature square band-aid near the corner of Alexander's right eye. He imagined that Madison was doing the same for Thomas in despite of Alex not wearing rings during the fight. Sometimes he felt like the older boy wore rings just because he was preparing for a physical encounter.

Alex closed his eyes as John placed a standard band-aid across the bridge of his cut and bruised nose. John chuckled to himself as his boyfriend opened his large brown eyes.

"What?" Alex asked nervously.

"It's just-" John laughed, finding humor in the situation, "That band-aid makes you look so childish! It's fitting since you being a baby is what got us here now."

Alex's eyes widened before he scrunched his face up and crossed his arms in front of his chest, "He started it." Alex pouted.

John stifled a laugh, "Okay, baby Lex." he bit his tongue as he stuck it out.

Alexander opened his mouth but was cut off by Laurens, "What? I can't have a little fun while patching up my boyfriend for the second time this month?"

"S-sorry." He stammered, breaking the sudden awkward silence.

"You know what I just thought of?" John laughed, "If people looked how they acted then you and Jefferson wouldn't be able to hold a pen...I'd sign you up for toddler fights! With your hot head we'd dominate all of the babies!"

It was beyond Alexander's control not to laugh as John wrapped two of his fingers together with gauze, they were sprained at the least.

"Hey! You're not allowed to laugh at my jokes, I'm still mad at you."
Then suddenly, "Warning on the antibiotics."
