"The fact that you're aware that it isn't real is a good thing." You had managed to convince Ruvik to lay with you. You were both staring at the ceiling, just like that time when he asked you about your past. At that time you felt slightly uncomfortable and didn't really mean it for him to stay so close, but now his presence felt just right.

You smiled. He noticed.

"What?" He asked, and you looked at him. Your smile only grew wider when you saw his curious eyes staring at you.

"Nothing. Really." You couldn't help but think it was a pity he hated his skin so much. It was hard to see his lips and his eyes. You had a feeling he would look just handsome without all that gauze. But maybe that was what held his pieces together. "I was just thinking it's good to talk to you like this."

He didn't respond, just kept staring. You had noticed how he always tried to read you.

It was funny, actually. The effort he made just to understand the things you said or did. To you it was simple, really. You looked at him because you liked what you saw, you talked to him because he had interesting things to say, you wanted him close because you felt like you were both the same. Broken. Was it so strange? He wanted you; you heard him. But sometimes he wasn't sure. It was confusing.

"Does it bother you to have me around?" You thought out loud, covering your mouth right after. You didn't mean to ask him that way. But then again, you wanted to know. You wanted to hear him say 'no'. But before he even opened his mouth you heard him. And it hurt. Yes.

"Yes." He answered honestly. You looked back at the ceiling trying not to seem too disappointed. You didn't expect him to continue, but he did. Surprise, surprise. "I have lived alone for so many years I forgot how to act around people. It bothers me not knowing how... to act around you. So much, sometimes I wish you weren't here."

You kept your attention on the ceiling, as if something really interesting was happening right above your head, but it wasn't. There was nothing there. You just didn't want him to notice you were hurt. You didn't want him to think you were too clingy. You didn't want him to get sick of you and throw you away like an old toy. Because you thought that was what he was going to do the moment he didn't need you anymore. Push you aside.

"Does it bother you to have me around?" You had spaced out... He was looking at you. "Do I scare you?"

You shook you head.

"I'm not scared of anything." You responded. "And no, you don't bother me. It's good to be able talk to someone who doesn't judge me. At the hospital I didn't have this privilege."

Ruvik chuckled slightly.

"Now that we are here, talking about each other..." He had a suspicious look in his covered face. "I would like to ask you something."

"Go ahead."

"How does it work?" His eyes never left your face. "This 'mind reading' thing. How do you do it?"

You finally turned his way.
