But Then She Looks Away So I Don't Have To See Her Cry.

"I love you so much baby," Chris said into my ear as I tried to bury my face more into his neck.

"I love you, too," I said, the tears running down my face in a constant flow now.

One of his hands that was underneith my thigh, helping hold me up, went to the small of my back, and my grip around his shoulders tightened.

"I'll be back before you know it baby," he said, figitting with something against my back.

"I doubt that," I mumbled, pulled my tear stained face from his neck that was now wet.

He was just as upset as I was, minus the tears. A small smile played on his lips as he gazed at me. "Why are you so beautiful?" I let one of my legs down and looked away from him as I blushed. "Thank God, with all those tears I was afraid I was dying."

I giggled. "Stop making me laugh, I'm upset."

"So you are upset," he said, still grinning. He lifted my chin and wiped a tear with his thumb. "Baby, I need to ask you something." I nodded. The hand that was on my back came in between us and the promise ring was there. He didn't need to say anything, I knew what he wanted. So I held my hand out and he slipped it on, kissing my hand lightly. "Come here."

He pulled me back into his arms and I snuggled into his chest. "I love you Chris."

"I love you too, Kari," he responded. His hand was still holding mine and I still had butterflies in my stomach. He lifted my chin and kissed me sweetly, pulling away all too soon. "I have to go baby."

"No," I said, shaking my head, trying to hold him against me as much as possible. "Please stay here with me."

His eyes were sad and he didn't say a word. He just planted a sweet, soft, passionate kiss on my lips. Then he was gone.

And I felt so empty.

It's short, but I couldn't really drag it out too much. I'm so excited.(: And P.S. the ring was not being given for proposal, it was being given for the promise. Just to clear that up.
