CHAPTER NINE

Arnold's POV

After seeing Jake's gift even though it doesn't have his name on it but I'm quite sure it's from him, I realized that Jake really like to be my friend, which made me really happy.

I tried to look for him but haven't had to chance to see him, I was about to ride my motor when coach Ravena called me.

"Saavedra! Where are you going?! We still have practice game, and you cannot skipped this time." he said sternly.

I moved away from my bike feeling a little bit disappointed but it doesn't dampen my spirit, specially now that I know that Jake really want to be friend with me and I will not stop until I can make it happen.

Practise was quite intensed, Coach Ravena doesn't want to take any chances, he want's to go for the kill.

Our practice ended around ten in the evening and I know that Jake must be asleep already and I don't want to bother his sleep since he might get angry with me if I'm going to disturb his sleep.

So instead of visiting him I decided to go home, took a shower, brushed my teeth and lied down in my bed.

Even though tired from practice, I still can't sleep, my mind is wandering elsewhere.

I looked down at the stuffed toy dog in my hand and can't help myself smiling while looking at it, I can't believe that something so simple can me smile like this, I mean I have all the expensive things that money can buy but it doesn't compare to the happiness that I'm feeling with this simple gift from Jake.

"Priceless." the right word that I can think of. And with that I fell asleep with a smile on my lips.

I woke up the next day feeling tired but at the same time happy and inspired, inspired like everywhere I look I can see good things in life, forget about bad things, bad vibes. Only good things =)

After getting ready to school, I decided to ride my bike and went straight to school, and saw my friends in our usual hangout spot with their girlfriends who seems to be laughing at something.

"Look who decided to who up guys, it's superman!" Louie said after seeing me walking towards them.

"Superman?" I asked confused with the name that Louie called me.

"Dude, don't you know you're the talk of the campus, well I mean you were popular before but you became more famous because of what you did.Dude you're a hero." Ken said smiling.

"Uhm should be happy or embarrassed?" I asked quite confused since I don't know how should I react to this sudden boost of my popularity.

"Dude of course it's a good thing, and besides because of you Professor Castro was kicked out from this school which is actually a good thing since he is a pain in the ass." Louie said to me putting his hand in my shoulder.

"OK." I said smiling, I noticed that my best friend Larry is quiet seating on the background, which confuses me since he is one of the noisiest in our group.

"Since it's still early why don't we grab something to eat." Louie said but decided to declined since I saw Jake entering the campus.

"Sorry guys I need to pass, I needed to do something." I said and waited for them to leave and saw Larry's weird look at me which is just shrugged.

I decided to follow him going to his first class and everyone that I met greeted me like I'm some kind of a celebrity. It's kind of nice but at the same time embarrassing since there are few students that actually shook my hand.

"Jake wait!" I said calling his attention and after he saw that it's me calling his expression changed instantly to animosity.

"Are you really dumb or what, didn't I tell you that I don't want to see you or talk to you or be friend with you." he shouted.

I just smiled at his runt and saw amazement in his face seeing that I'm not affected with what he just said.

"Well I just want to say thank you for your gift." I said and saw confusion in his face and then showed him the toy.

I saw how his expression change from animosity to shock looking at the stuffed toy dog in my hand which he tried to hide but too late since I saw a knowing looking in his face.

"I don't know what you're talking about, that's not mine." he said trying to sound convincing but I know better.

"I know it's from you and I do know that you really want to be my friend because of this toy. I said, giving him a wide smile in my face ignoring his reaction.

"I don't care what you think, you can be delusional or what but I already made my decision." he said and after saying those words, he walked away from me.

"Whatever happen Jake, you are going to be my friend whether you like it or not, I'm going to stick you like an annoying bubble gum under your shoes." I shouted and saw him flinched,

I can't believe that I actually shouted that but it felt good, at least he knows that I'm not going to stop to befriend him.

I stopped from my track when I saw the same girl who have so much make up in her face which is Jake's classmate.

"Hi Arnold , can I be that friend that you're looking for?" she asked hope in her eyes, it seems that she heard everything that I said.

I just smiled at her and saw her hyperventilating just because of a simple smile from me.

"I went to my class and for the first time I participated with the class discussion which is kind of new to me since I usually tend to goof off.

Even in practice game I was doing a good job, better than the usual and I can see from Coach Ravena's face that he is satisfied with my performance compared to what I'm seeing in Mike's face.

Coach Ravena decided to end our practice and let us leave early that night, which is actually right in  time since I saw Jake leaving the Architecture's building.

"Goodbye Jake." I shouted and saw him looking at me, but after he saw that it was me who called, he just walked away actually ran away like he's being chased.

I ignored Larry's weird look at me since my mind is occupied by one person and that is Jake Angelo, the guy that messed with my mind.
