First off I need to make a HUGE apology to all my fans and/or readers that are enjoying this story. I know it's been nearly TWO MONTHS since I've last uploaded. I just wasn't inspired and I had a HUGE chapter for this but it all got erased! FFFFUUUUUUUU************!!! I was soo pissed off. So when I rewrote it, it's not as long! So, in addition I WILL be going back to this chapter and adding stuff.

Why I haven't uploaded in forever:

For one thing no inspiration. Two, a lot of stuff was going on in my life that I rather not talk about. Plus, I've been sick a lot...I was doing more reading than writing to be completely honest.

But here is something for you to read.

Enjoy!

Tears Don't Fall

Echo's POV

I sat on the floor cradling Josh's head as he stared up at me, his eyes half closed. "Why did you lie to me?" I whispered enough for him to hear on the verge of tears. He just looked at me as if I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. "Why did you tell me you had feelings for me? I know you were just saying them."

"I do like you Echo. Just-" he paused.

"Just what?" I cut him off feeling my eyes starting to water, it took everything I had to hold them back. Why was I so upset by this? For the longest time I hated Josh because he always treated me like crap since Junior High. But now that we're in high school I grew some back bone and stood up for myself. For him to say he liked me...

"I like you as a friend, not my enemy. I'm so tired of this war between us."

"Then why say you like me?" I huffed out.

"I DO but only as a friend."

"You really do like Claire don't you?"

Josh nodded. "Ever since freshman year," he confessed.

"Then why don't you tell her? Why make her believe you like me?"

"I wanted her to be happy. I saw the way she looked at that Max character. She loves him obviously," you couldn't miss the thick feelings behind his words. "Even if he is her cousin," he chuckled.

At that moment I wanted to blubber like an idiot and laugh at the same time. Not because he had lied to me, thinking that he had feelings for me but really for my best friend, no. It's the fact that he lied to Claire about his feelings for her happiness, he didn't want to put more stress on her shoulders. What if Josh dies? Claire would never know his true feelings for her, is that what he wants?

Wait-why does he think Max is her cousin?

"You have to tell her Josh," I whispered as I played with his hair affectionately. I always admired this boy.

"I have, you should have seen the way she looked at me Echo," he squinted his eyes shut as if trying not to picture just how she looked at him in his mind. "I knew right then she didn't feel the same."

"So what if she doesn't feel the same," his eyes snapped open by my words. "It felt good to tell her your feelings did it not?"

"Well, yeah but-"

"The worst she could do was reject you by telling she doesn't feel the same, I know Claire and she's not the kind of person to let this come between both of ya'lls friendship."

"I'm starting to think that it's you that I should have feelings for Echo, not Claire's whose heart is already taken."

"What makes you think mine isn't already taken?"

Amusement flashed in his eyes. "It is?"

"Aren't you nosey! And Max isn't her cousin f.y.i," I chuckled out, Josh chuckled as well.

"Yeah, I knew she was lying the moment she said he was." We both just laughed.

"They've been gone for some time, do you think they're okay?" I asked glancing at the door.

Josh just shrugged but soon after he winced clutching his arm for dear life, screaming at the top of his lungs.

"Josh? Josh?! Josh!" I heard foot steps behind me seeing the three amigos that have alienated themselves from us, come over to our aide.

"What's wrong? What's happening?" One of the twins shrieked.

"I don't know, I don't know!" I yelled, feeling helpless as I watched my friend convulse in pain. "Hold on Josh! Just hold on!" I screamed as tears began to stream down my face. At that moment my instincts kicked in, I knew I needed to lay him flat and back away...quickly! As soon as I did Josh instantly sat up glaring at me as he drooled.

Oh god he's-

"Run!" I yelled to the rest of the group as we stormed out of the room knowing Josh is hot on our trail. The two twin sluts screaming down the hall wasn't helping at all either. My heart was racing, nearly about to burst out of my chest when I came to realize that if they didn't shut up they would attract the mob of zombies.

At that moment I wanted them to stop screaming. To just yell over my shoulder and be like, "shut up bitches!" At that moment for some reason before I could get the words out...they did shut up. It was in fact quiet, too quiet. The only sound was my ragged breathing and the clipping sound that my heals made with the hardwood floor.

I stopped abruptly and turned to look over my shoulder. No one was there...I was alone. Oh God...

I knew either Josh or the mob of zombies heard them as we were rounding corners had probably taken them but this was no time to morn over their misfortune and I have had watched too many scary movies to just turn around to go look for them while yelling out their names.

So, what did I do instead?

Be smart and keep running to find a safe place to hide until Claire, Max and Mr. Josie gets back at least.

A door came into view that looked promising, maybe I could hide out in their for a bit and that's when the tears started to fall...

Claire's POV

As I let out a scream the figure covered my mouth with the palm of it's hand.

"Sh! Claire it's me!" What the-?

"Echo? What the hell? How did you-" She rushed inside, shutting and locking the door behind her. "Echo?" She turned around her eyes not meeting mine as tears streamed down her face.

"Echo?! Are you hurt? What happened?" I bellowed out, hugging her tightly to me.

"It's Josh he's-he's-" And that's when I knew. We lost Josh. The bite had affected him and turned him into another one of those zombies.

"Oh-oh no-" I needed to be strong and yet-

"Where are the others?" I heard Mr. Josie ask from behind and I let Echo go so she could answer him properly. Instead her hair just fell over her face as she shook her head.

I don't know how long we all just stood there staring off in disbelief.

That was until I heard some beeping noise that sounded like a heart monitor. "Do you guys hear that?"

"Here what?" Echo asked as she wiped her nose.

"That beeping."

"I don't hear anything Claire." Max said looking at me like I was dumb.

"It sounds like it's coming from over..." I look over my shoulder at the door as I noticed a stream of light shining into the window part of the door.

See? Told you it wasn't very long...but hm...what do you think that beeping noise really was? This story gets really twisted just so you know! :)

Sorry no love scene here...and yep...Josh is gone :( Sorry if you were Team Josh but there is something twisting about to happen so buckle up!

This story is only HALF way done too...so if it seems kind of rushed you'll know why soon! :)
