Thirteen

I woke before Joel, and he had his arm still wrapped tightly around my waist, and I felt a peace, like there was nothing that could have moved me from this bed until I was ready. I rolled over and looked at him. He seemed utterly calm in sleep. I've seen Joel have so many emotions on his face at once, it was almost reassuring to know that in his sleep he was peaceful. I gently brushed his hair away from his face, and I slid out of bed. I walked into my room, brushed my teeth and got dressed into the proper clothes. Sunday, the day before Monday. The day that everyone wishes would last forever. I returned to Joel's room and he was still sleeping. I leaned against the doorway, watching him for a moment, then I pushed myself into a standing position, and I walked over to the bed. I knelt and leaned against the mattress.

"Joel." I ran my hand against his hair, and leaned forward pressing a soft kiss against his jaw line. And he was flittering, but slipping back into sleep.

"Joel." I ran my hand through his hair, and softly pulled on the ends. And kissed his temple, I didn't see his arm until it was too late, he wrapped it around my waist, pulling me over his hip, and onto the bed, so that I was facing the wall and he was behind me. I let out a small squeak and he chuckled into my hair. He buried his head into my hair, and sighed.

"I don't think i've slept that well in a long time." He muttered and laid his cheek against my shoulder. And I was close to maybe taking a small morning nap.

"We have to get moving, the day is almost half over." He picked his head up and looked toward the other side of the room and pulled me under the blanket.

"It's only 8:30, I'm not leaving this bed until at least 10, and neither are you." I rolled over and he opened a blue eye at me and it looked like the cloud sky before the sun had a chance hit it. I looked up at me.

"We have a lot to do."

"We aren't leaving just yet." He kissed my forehead and I sighed shaking my head. He was so lazy.

"You're a bum." He gave a slow lazy smile.

"I am, and today I'm going to teach you my ways." I shook my head.

"I like my ways." He rolled over so that his back was to me and heaved a sigh.

"Well then I guess you don't need me." I was about to tell him not to be ridiculous. But two can play at that game.

"I guess not." I rolled over and him and tried to get out of bed, and his arms caught my waist.

"Where do you think you are going?" He growled and it sent shivers down my spine, and i'm pretty sure he felt it too.

"You said I didn't need you, and so I figured I would leave you be." He chuckled and pulled me back under the blankets, laying his weight on top of me.

"Just beacuse you don't need me, doesn't mean that I don't need you." I looked up at him and he leaned his head down on mine.

"I do need you Alison Bailey Granger, more than you'll ever understand." I touched the stone that was still laying against his chest. And he touched the white one that was around my neck.

"Do you remember the first time I met you?" He asked me a little while later, we were still in bed, my head was resting on his arm, and I was playing with his other hand, Watching how his fingers flex and gripped mine.

"yes. You saved my life." And he snorted lightly.

"Hardly, you wouldn't have died, you would have been in a terrible amount of pain, but you're heart would have with stood the beating you were giving it. When I looked into your eyes, I felt like you could see me..."
