   Pixel woke up.
"Free day," she thought. Today was the day that the tributes got there final scores, which would give the sponsors a sneak peak at what the tributes could do. They started after lunch,so for the first half of the day the tributes could do whatever they wished. Pixel got up and walked over to the closet. Today would be the last full day she spent here. Tomorrow they left for the arena. The closet dinged. Pixel opened the door and quickly slipped into the clothes she requested. She wore a dark blue one-piece bathing suit with white flowers here and there. She threw a pair of dark green athletic shorts and dark blue t-shirt over the bathing suit. Pixel went down to the training center to practice before the judging. She picked up a golden now and a belt of daggers. After hitting twenty shots in a row,Pixel moved onto the swords. After twenty minutes of perfect hits with a golden sword,Pixel decided she was as prepared as she could be. She went back to the elevator and went down to the pool. She didn't stop swimming until Dell came in.
"There you are," he said. "Lunch is ready,". Pixel hopped out of the pool.
"M'kay," she said. "I'll be there in a minute,I need to change and dry off,".
"Okay, come on soon,". Dell then left to where the tributes ate lunch. Pixel went back to her room to change and dry off. She requested a change of clothes, which arrived almost immediately. She finished drying off and changed. She now wore a pair of jean capris,a dark red belt, and a quarter length, dark turquoise shirt. She slipped her boots on and headed to lunch.
"There you are Pixel," Lux said as she sat down.
"Sorry," Pixel said as she grabbed some food. "I had gone swimming earlier and needed to change,".
"It's fine. Now,as I was just telling Dell,we plan to take over the cornucopia like always. We are to destroy anyone that comes in our way, even if that means each other," Lux said. One of the workers came in and called for Lux to go to show the game-makers what he could do. "Good chat," he said as he got up. Pixel are quietly until Satin was called. The second she stepped out of the room Pixel banged her head on the table. Dell, Silver, and Karambit all jumped.
"What's wrong with you?" Silver asked.
"I'm a goner," Pixel muttered just loud enough for the other three to hear. No one said anything for a few seconds.
"Why is that?" Silver asked after the silence. Pixel turned her head toward Silver, still laying on the table.
"Lux expects us to go through the blood bath, but I know for a fact that I can't handle that,".
"I probably can't either," Dell admitted.
"Well there has to be a way to keep you two alive during the blood bath," Karambit chimed in.
"The only way we could is if there's something we could climb or hide in until it's done," Pixel said.
"Like good strong trees," Dell said. Silver's eyes lit up.
"What if,you two go and hide a little ways away from corn, and when it's all over with you can come back," Silver suggested.
   "But what if..." Pixel started.
"If anyone tries to hurt you I will murder them where they stand," Silver growled. Pixel was taken aback by her sudden roughness. "No one touches my friends," Silver said, going back to her food, her voice calmer. Pixel was going to ask about Silver saying friends, but Silver was called. Silver smiled slightly. "Here I go," she said getting up. "Good luck you guys,". She then headed out of the room.
"Hey,don't worry about Silver's little outburst there," Karambit said. "She just gets protective of her friends,".
"I didn't know we were friends," Pixel said quietly.
   "Silver can...surprise you," Karambit said.
"No kidding," Pixel mumbled. They called for Karambit. She got up, smiling nervously, and headed out. Pixel and Dell sat in awkward silence until his name was called. "Good luck Dell," Pixel told him.
"Thanks," he said. "You too,not that you'll need it though,". Pixel smiled as he left the room. She sat alone, picking at her food until her name was called. Pixel took a deep breath as she stood up.
   "Hey Pix!" Atom called.
   "Yeah?" she asked,turning towards him.
"Good luck," he said with a smile. Pixel returned the smile.
"You too," she said. Pixel then headed to the training center. She walked in. She immediately saw the game-makers. Pixel took a deep breath. She could do this. No need to be worried. Pixel walked up to them. They all watched her intently. "Pixel Firefly,District three," she said. The game-makers nodded. Pixel walked over and grabbed the bow she had practiced with earlier along with the daggers. She stepped to the middle of the room,a good distance away from the dummies. She fired all twenty of the daggers, hitting twenty different dummies dead in the heart. She turned the game-makers. They were writing something down on clipboards. They didn't look to impressed. Pixel blew a straw strand of hair out of her face. She walked over to the swords and grabbed the golden one. She angled herself were several dummies were in a row. She pulled the sword up to the bow,and let go. The sword went through at least four dummies hearts before getting stuck in one. The game-makers stared at the dummies. One of them, probably the one in charge, cleared his throat.
"You may go," he said. Pixel smirked, bowed, and left the room. She went into her room, threw on her pj's, and plopped onto the bed.
"You okay?" Dell asked from the door. Pixel grunted in response. She rolled onto her side, facing the wall.  "Well,if you want,me Sil, Karambit, that Scotty boy and the girl from his District, the kids from eight, along with that Atom kid are all going up to roof to talk. You should join us Pix,might make you feel better,". Pixel grunted again. "Okay," Dell said after hesitating. "If you're sure,". Pixel heard the door close. She turned over. Dell had left.  She sighed. Pixel layers there for a few hours. She finally made herself get up. It was obvious she couldn't fall asleep. She went to the elevator and went to the thirteenth floor. She opened the door leading to the roof. The sun had already started setting. Everyone Dell had said was going to be there really were. They were all talking and laughing. Being.. friends. It was a comforting sight.
"Hey," Pixel said quietly. They all turned and looked at Pixel.
"New you'd come," Dell said. Pixel smiled as she walks over to the others. They talked for several hours. It wasn't until the girl from thirteen,Atom's fellow tribute, came up to get Atom that they stopped.
"Atom, they're about to announce the scores!" she exclaimed. Atom looked at the others.
"Well what are we waiting for?" he said. "Come on!"  He led the others into the main room with the tv. Some sat on the couches, others stood behind.
"District one," Hinlkal said, begging the score announcing. "Lux Mahogany, eighteen,". The adults in the room nodded. The scores ranked from one to twenty. Twenty being absolutely amazing, and one being unbearably bad. "Pearl Satin," Hinlkal continued. "Sixteen,". Ouch! That had o hurt District one. "District two,Silver Wilson,". The room fell silent as everyone glanced from the tv to Silver. "Nineteen!"  The room erupted into cheers. Silver hushed everyone as Karambit's picture appeared on the screen. "Karambit Hunter, eighteen!"  More cheers and hushing. "District three,Dell Comp. eighteen!"  There were several sighs of relief, mostly from Dell,Pixel, and Silver. "Pixel Firefly,". Pixel bit her lip. Oh dear. "Nineteen!"
"What?!" Pixel nearly screamed. She stumbled backwards, being caught by Dell.
"Nice work Pix," he said with a smile. The scores continued. Pixel only payed attention to the ones of her new friends. Scotty got a sixteen. Dill got a fourteen, which several people reassured him was fine. Aria got a fifteen. Finally,Atom got a sixteen, which he was extremely supposed by and pleased. The group of new friends went back up to the roof. The sun was finishing setting.
"So.." Pixel said. "Are we considered friends now?" she asked the group. The group exchanged glances with each other. It supposed Pixel when Silver was the one to respond.
"What else would we be?" she asked. Pixel smiled, along with the others.
"So,how will we escape?" Pixel asked after some silence. No one responded for a while.
"Don't worry Pix," Dell eventually said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder in a side hug. "With all of these smart kids together,we'll think of something,". Pixel smiled at his reassurance.
"Yeah," she thought. "We'll think of something, together,".
