Chapter 10 ^_^

Chance POV

I burst into Alpha Calum's office to see him with his beta, I was taking the quickest flight with my beta to their old pack land but Alpha Calum didn't want me to leave yet encase I was ambushed as soon as I landed. So here we were discussing different routes to take which was wasting time.

"If we land at another airport which is 4 hours away from where she is then there's no point because it might be too late. I'm leaving now, I will let you know when I find her AHH-" I fall to my knees clutching my chest as it felt like I've just been shot. They helped me up onto the chair as I felt the pain go away. My wolf whined at the thought of our mate alone and hurt, "She's hurt I need to go." My beta Liam followed me as we quickly drove to our private jet. The flight had me on edge as I wanted to get there faster before something else happened.

"We will be landing in 15 minutes Alpha, what's the plan?" My beta asked.

"We'll head straight for the woods going east until we reach the pack area, as soon as we find Rayne we leave. Alpha Calum and the council will deal with the pack members who were killed." As soon as we landed we were running through the woods not wanting to shift yet. I smelt the stench of vampires which I was use to and didn't mind since I grew up being around vampires when we visited grandpa Demitri at his castle but this stench tasted bitter. The air started getting thick as we closed in on the pack area.

"No one's here, their scent headed North should we follow it?" My beta asked.

"No it's a trap, remember vampires like to trick wolves with fake scents. Check for any survivors, I'm going to search the woods for any tracks." I ordered.

I jogged around some houses to see dead bodies and blood splattered on the walls and grass as if it was paint. I came across the Alpha's house next to the pack house and found the Alpha and his family slaughtered. I quickly exited the house and went to look for any survivors hiding.

"Alpha I've caught a scent of a werewolf who was in this pack going South. His scent was mixed with vampires so they must've took him as hostage."

"Let's go." We met up at the front of the pack house and ran into the woods once again following the faint scents. After 20 minutes of running I could hear voices and laughter a mile away.

I slowed down my pace and came to a stop.

"What's wrong?" Liam asked curiously.

"I hear them, if we keep moving they will hear you. I need you to stay here I will mask my footsteps and scent, mind link me if you see anything out of the ordinary." I say.

Liam hesitated not wanting me to go alone without protection, but nodded his head knowing not to question an Alphas order.

I took off in a sprint with my feet lifting off the ground as if I was light as a feather. As I got closer I could hear the voices get louder but I couldn't tell what they were saying through the muffled sounds.

I started moving closer to get a better hearing until I was grabbed with a hand over my mouth. Feeling sparks erupt on my skin I felt a wave of relief that my mate was okay, I turned around to face her as she signaled to be quiet. Her eyes flashed red and it started to rain she grabbed my hand and we ran back towards the way Liam was.

"Mind link Liam tell him to run west three vampires are searching the perimeter, the rain will get rid of his scent." She said.

The Alpha in me didn't like that she gave me an order but I didn't question her since my beta could get hurt if I didn't. Once I let my beta know what to do we kept running until we reached the jet where Liam was waiting. We were all soaking wet and got inside drying off with the towels that were given to us.

I then remembered that my mate was injured from the pain I felt and knelt in front of her seeing the front of her shirt red. Without thinking I ripped her shirt apart giving me access to the wound.

"Chance! What the hell!" She slapped away my hands as I tried to focus on the bullet hole and not her breasts.

"Liam look away." I said not wanting him to see what's mine.

"Why didn't you heal!?" I demanded.

"Don't use that tone with me! The bullet is still inside." She states as if it was no big deal. My wolf whined knowing that our mate was hurt and we didn't protect her.

"I'm going to pull it out." I said grabbing the first aid kit but she stopped me.

"You can't. This bullet is different, it's not your ordinary wolfs bane bullet. If I pull it out now it releases wolfs bane toxins into the air and will kill you, Liam and our pilot so we'll wait until we get home."

"Good thing your immune to that shit." I sighed.

"Language." She says glaring at me.

Once we landed and got to her territory there was a bathtub full of hot water waiting for her. She walked into the bathroom with Rylee following her and closed the door. I sat on her bed waiting as my wolf paced in my head.

"Fuck!"

An hour later they came out, Rayne was already dressed and her wound was almost fully healed. Rylee left the room as Rayne went under the covers. "Are you okay?" I asked tucking her in.

"Yeah just tired. We'll discuss things tomorrow." She replied.

"Okay I've got pack work to finish I'll see you tomorrow." I kissed her soft lips and left her to rest. I went downstairs to see Liam waiting for me.

Rayne's POV

The next day I woke up fully healed as if nothing happened. My door opened and Chance walked in looking handsome as usual.

"You're still in bed? Your dad said meeting in 20 minutes." He jumped on my bed and pulled me close to him while pampering my face with kisses making me smile.

Once I was ready we went downstairs to the meeting room where my parents and Rylee and Chase were waiting with dad's beta. We sat down and discussed what will happen to the pack members who died and that dad and mom will be leaving for a few weeks to make sure all the pack members get a better send off.

"There was one person from the pack who was still alive I think they took that person as hostage so make a body count and make sure every pack member has been counted for, there should be the pack files in the safe. As soon as you find out who was taken let me know and I'll get our best trackers on that case." I said.

"Very good. Since that's everything covered your mother and I need to pack. We will leave tonight with our beta and some pack warriors. The council will meet us there. And don't skip school and no parties in this house. Also you guys need to think about pack arrangements." Dad said standing up.

"Don't worry we'll discuss that soon." Rylee says also getting up. We went to the kitchen and snacked on some brownies that our cook had made while my parents went to pack. We heard footsteps rushing towards the kitchen to see Daniel on Simba's back. He hopped down and I picked him up and sat him on my lap.

"You lied to me, you said you would be behind me." He said pouting.

"I know I'm sorry. How about I make it up to you? Chance will play with you and your dinosaurs, doesn't that sound fun!" I say getting him all excited. His eyes lit up and he started bouncing on my lap.

"What?! Your offering me? What kind of deal is that?!" Chance says incredulously.

"A great deal duh." I said

Daniel slid off my lap, "I'll wait for you in my room!" he ran upstairs giggling like a mad man.

"Have fun!" Rylee says. Chance glares at us and trudges up the stairs as we laughed.
