What the Letter Really Said

"You can't just go and flirt with Adrien," Tikki told me in exasperation. "I was holding it in the whole time telling you, but Marinette likes Adrien! You can't just do that!"

Uh oh. That was bad news from start to finish. "But Marinette isn't even here! And I'll be gone before you know it. It's bad enough that I have to be Ladybug, but I might as well have some fun while I'm here."

"Being Ladybug is a big responsibility, you should be thankful that you were asked by Marinette! Master Fu would not be pleased if he knew though."

        "Master Fu?"

"Don't worry about that. Right now you should be worrying about how you're going to deal with Marinette when you get back. Or how you're going to deal with Adrien from now on."

"Tikki, I don't want to argue with you. I'm sorry that Marinette left you with someone that you don't know, and that Hawk Moth is at his prime and someone needs to be Ladybug while she's out. Can't we just be friends? Let alone partners?" It was true. I did feel bad about all of this. It's not everyday there are two Ladybugs.

The little kwami looked down to the pavement looking a little guilty. We were still at the gardens. "Sorry (y/n). I shouldn't have been so harsh. If Marinette asked you, then I should trust her."

Both of us smiled, and we resumed walking home. I would need to get further instructions from Mr. and Mrs. Dupain Cheng on how to run the bakery. But the mission of the day was accomplished even without an akuma. I came to terms with myself on becoming Ladybug. I was ready for it! Excited for it! Not only that, but I was pretty confident that I'd be having a date with Adrien soon!

I opened the bakery door and saw smiles all around. I couldn't have picked a better place for a Summer job. All the pastel colors, everything is just so cute!

"Hello, sorry I took so long. Paris is just so... mesmerizing."

"No problem. Make sure you get your rest, because tomorrow's going to be a busy day. Mrs. Chamack ordered another cake that's going to have to be picked up, so stay vigilant!" Mrs. Dupain Cheng emphasized.

Mr. Cheng chuckled. "Yep. Last time our Marinette was listening to mus-"

"That's enough Tom," Mrs. Cheng chuckled, "you have a good nights sleep now (y/n)." She flashed me a smile. I hoped everyone in Paris would be as nice as them.

"Thanks so much! I can already tell this summer is going to be one to remember!"

I went up the stairs to Marinette's attic room. With one quick glance I could already tell she was the artistic type. Me and Tikki laughed a bit. She told me the effort that Marinette went through to clean up the room so I wouldn't suffocate from the amount of Adrien everywhere. I'm glad we made up. I couldn't imagine being a crime fighting superhero without being friends with the one who actually gives me my superpowers.

Looking up at the pink ceiling, I bade Tikki goodnight.

"You know what?" She asked me.

        "What?"

"It's nice to talk to another human being. As much as I love Marinette- I wish I could let the whole world know that I exist."

I passed a tray of more cookies over to her. "Sorry I didn't give you anything earlier. I completely forgot."

She giggled in a really cute way. "Adrien can do that to girls. But (Y/n) I have a confession to make... I ate some of the cookies in your bag!"

In a fit of laughter we both fell asleep. But in the middle of the night I woke up and turned on my phone's flashlight. I slowly tip toed to the mirror and picked up Marinette's letter. This was what it said.

Cher Amie,

In the daytime, I'm Marinette. Just a normal girl, with a normal life- but I have a secret that no one knows yet.

Or at least that no one knows except you! When I'm in China I need your help, there is an evil villian in Paris, and there are two superheroes the Cat and the Ladybug.

I am the Ladybug.

But you must keep this a secret! If anyone would find out, I don't know what I would do.

Please be Ladybug while I'm gone. Paris needs you!

Ask Tikki, my Kwami to explain everything later. (And try not to freak out!)

Thanks and super sorry about this.

-Marinette

P.S.

Chat Noir is a handful.

I guess Tikki woke up from my flashlight because she nudged me gently after I read through it a couple times.

"(Y/n)! It's time to go on a patrol!"
