Marinette (better known as the super hero ladybug; savior of Paris) went to China to help her uncle for the summer- and she left it up to you to take up her position as Ladybug! Meanwhile, brews a romance with a certain blondie. Enjoy your adventur...
Waking up the next day, I felt unbelievably tired.
That was a good thing. At least I knew for sure that what happened the night before wasn't a dream. Day number two in Paris.
Hopefully, I thought, Adrien would visit the bakery today.
Mr. and Mrs. Dupain Cheng were already at work once I got downstairs.
"Good nights sleep (y/n)?" I was asked by Marinettes mom. She laughed a bit when I shrugged and murmured a quiet 'I think so.' "Well you better have! We're probably going to have a busy day today."
Even though I was kind of bummed that I was going to have to be at work all day, I told myself that was what I came to Paris for anyways. The deal was simple, in exchange for a place to stay, I would work and help out around the shop. However, at the time, I also liked to convince myself that it was the feeble strings of fate that pulled me closer to becoming Ladybug.
Because in the beginning my baking experience was so limited, I started off manning the counter. Most of the folks were lovely, but you wouldn't believe how many people out there can just be so... salty. Bakeries are for sweets, you know.
After a while of smiling, and asking people "Hello, welcome, how are you," it was almost time for my lunch break. I was taking my leave when a boy with bright red hair opened up the door. A gust of warm air flew in. He was holding something that looked like a sketchbook with lots of papers that looked to be border line falling out. A waterfall of white, dead, cellulose.
"Hi, do you think that I could have a dozen of those cookies over there please?" He asked me in a polite tone, and pointed to the fresh chocolate chip ones Mr. Dupain Cheng just brought out of the oven.
"I can give you more than cookies ;)" I said. Just kidding, I didn't actually say that. (Lol)
"Sure?" I gave him a look. I didn't know boys ate so much.
I guess he caught on to the situation because he chuckled in a cute way with a voice that seemed deep, but not too deep for a boy his age. "Sorry, that must seem weird." I looked into the pools of spectacular ocean water that were his eyes. "They're for a few friends." The tomato haired boy let go of his sketchbook with one hand and extended his arm towards me. I was almost positive all of his drawings were going to collapse. Somehow we successfully managed to shake hands. "My name's Nathanaël."
"Hey, I'm (y/n). I'll be here over this whole summer, totally random fact, but it'll start a conversation."
Another smile. "Ahh, I see. I was kind of worried that Marinette dyed her hair and got different colored contacts for a second. Some kind of alien imposter?"
Both laughing I replied, "Well, I wouldn't go that far. Although this scene kind of seems like it's straight out of an anime."
"Anime?" The Tomato Boi Nathanaël's eyes flashed. A flicker of realization. "You watch anime?" In a swift, elegant, (yet somewhat clumsy) motion, he pulled out his sketchpad. "Look here," he pointed again, "I draw manga! They're not really that good, but sometimes I like to think they're improving. But I mostly like to draw Ladybug. She and Chat Noir are awesome. "
"Oh really?"
"Really. Now about those cookies..." Nathanaël took a glance at them, then turned back to moi.
"Oh yes, of course," I said fumbling around for the tray. "Here you go! I hope you have a nice day, they're still really fresh. Well," I paused, "I better be going too. Lunch break. And Nathanaël," I reassured him, "your drawings are really awesome, you should keep at it."
Even though I was still smiling from ear to ear, I prayed to god that the cute redhead wouldn't hear my stomach grumbling."
"Bye (y/n)," to be honest this was kind of fun. Besides today, I haven't really talked to anyone from school. Thought I'd drop by to catch Marinette before she left, but I guess I was too late. This is what I get for shutting myself inside for the start of the summer." He placed his hand behind his head and smiled again. "But I'll probably end up staying inside drawing, playing video games, and watching anime for the rest of the summer too. Nice meeting you!"
"See you, Nathanaël. I guess I'll walk you out since you're leaving too. Wait just a sec, I'm going to tell Marinette's parents that I'm taking my break now."
After getting the okay from shouting to them across the room, me and my newly found tomato friend departed. He even held the door for me. What a gentleman.
"Where are you heading?" He politely asked.
I stuttered from this. Tomato boi was just so nice.
"P-probably just the park, I mean, unless Adrien Agreste is having a photo shoot there again, maybe I'll meet some other kids too."
Nathanaël's smile vanished almost instantaneously. "So you've already met Adrien then?"
I already started to fall for Adrien, you mean.
"Yeah, yesterday I took a walk, and we kind of ran into each other. Why, you don't like him?" I was pretty concerned, maybe I had made the wrong friend. Once I met Chat Noir, and Nathanaël, I was having the slightest sliver of a doubt about not liking him.
His face flushed, "Oh no, it's not that, but I have a feeling that Marinette is into him, it's pretty transparent. And to tell you the truth, I kind of liked her for a while too. But I mean- there's no hard feelings though."
Of course not.
"But that was in the past, you know. Sorry I'm telling you all this stuff." In an attempt to crack a joke he said, "well, I guess when you've been holed up in your room in solitude for so long..." We both laughed at this.
Continuing to stare at each other for a while and to break the silence that wasn't really awkward to me (but could have potentially been awkward to him) I added, "there's no need to apologize Nathanaël." I winked, hoping it would lighten the mood.
After parting ways, I felt truly accomplished. When he said goodbye to me for the last time, he kissed me on the cheek.
I think my face was redder than his bright tomato hair.
Hope you're liking my really trashy story so far. I was thinking of adding a steamy Nathanaël moment, but I decided against it in the end, (as much as I love his character in the actual series, this is anAdrien X Reader too!) Might not be able to upload another chapter as soon as I'd like but expect more!
