After Tikki woke me up, she explained the ropes of being Ladybug, how to use the Lucky Charm, and all of that good stuff. Before I knew it I was saying the words:
"Tikki! Spots on!"
And all at once, I was transforming. It was an interesting, magical experience. Let me emphasize the magic part.
But it felt fantastic.
However, once the earrings were on, Tikki seemed to disappear along with them. I guess I was on my own. I climbed through the trapdoor to the roof and took a moment to take in the bright and wonderful Parisian sky. Everything was full of sparkle and light, but in the most beautiful way, unlike your normal metropolitan city. The grandeur of it all was spectacular.
However, a thought then hit me. Where the heck do I go for the patrol? What the heck do I do? I knew Chat Noir was my partner, but how was I supposed to have his guidance without even knowing where he was?!
Using the my new Ladybug yoyo (although I don't really know if it's fair to call it mine or not), I swung my arm, and went from building to building. That was when I found Chat Noir on one rooftop, rose and picnic basket in hand.
"Hey Bugaboo," he purred, "lovely evening isn't it"
Bam.
What was I to do? Tell him it wasn't really the real Ladybug? That I'm an impostor? God. So many questions that evening.
"Hey... Chat. What's up? I take it... that you're taking the evening off?"
"Yep, I decided to kick off the summer so we'd take a little break from all this saving Paris business and take a second to enjoy ourselves. You seem a little different today. Cat got your tongue?"
To be fair I hadn't really started the saving Paris business yet.
He inched closer to me and pressed the rose into my palm, and curled my fingers around it. His hand was warm. I wasn't really the one he was in love with.
"Ladybug," he whispered into my ear, "I've been meaning to say this for a long time..."
"Chat," I said rather alarmed, feeling like it would be a good idea to take off. The black cat then grabbed my shoulders.
"Please Ladybug, don't go. I won't say anything. Just stay with me."
I felt really sorry for the guy. He really did seem to be in love with Marinette.
I wondered what would happen if I just played along with it... Maybe gave him a chance for him to be happy for a bit.
"Of course I'll stay," I told him in a reassuring tone. "What if Paris actually needs saving? But Chat, I want to hear what you have to say too. I really do." Even though I just met him, I couldn't help but say that. It's not everyday a handsome superhero confesses his love to you.
The eyes that I didn't know were tearing earlier began to pour forth even more tears. Chat perked up and pulled me into his strong, muscular body, the leather of his suit in direct contact with mine.
"Oh Ladybug, you don't know how long I've been waiting for this moment. You're not even pulling back like you always do. Are you sure nothing's wrong?"
I breathed in his scent, and realized that I was actually beginning to blush like crazy. Adrien seemed to be the last thing on my mind. Although, I did happen to make my mind up on something. Later, I would tell him my true identity. That the real Ladybug, (Marinette), had to reveal her identity to a stranger, and couldn't even tell the one that loved her.
"Nothing's wrong. But I have something to tell you too. Something important that could change things between us for the worse."
The next thing I knew I was being pulled to the ground. Things were going a little too fast. My head was spinning.
"Of course, I'll understand, because I love y-"
Then all at once, Chat Noir's magical moment came crashing down. An akumatized victim in purple flew at us, throwing small bombs of reactions that looked like they'd come straight from a chemistry classroom.
"Seriously!?" Chat interjected, "Why does this always happen! Anyways, Is that Ms. Mendeleiev!?"
"Ms. Who?"
"Chemistry teacher. Let's get to work bugaboo." After flashing me a wink, he took off.
"My new science publication was canceled- and so will your miraculouses! Now hand them over!" The older woman shouted at us from afar. The negative vibrations coming from her were almost tangible.
"Pardon me Ms., but the only chemistry here tonight will be with me and Ladybug," Chat Noir yelled right back at her.
So we did manage to defeat her. Eventually.
I think Chat Noir knew something was up after the fight. It was my first time, after all. Battle was something new, but towards the end I'm pretty sure I got the hang of it. He couldn't stop staring at me really weirdly though.
"Um...", I began, "I'm really sorry I'm not as good as I usually am. I-I g-guess it's because I was so nervous about what happened earlier."
The hero ran his fingers through his hair; a color indistinguishable in that time of night. Looking at what used to be a picnic basket (that was destroyed from the chemicals), he said to me, "You did great, but I guess our little evening out is butchered isn't it. Hawk Moth's going to pay for this one." He flashed his ring. "I'm about to detransform, but we'll pick up things from where we left off. Good night and sweet dreams, M'lady."
With that, he left me in the dark of the sweet, sweet, beautiful Parisian night.
I had officially started the saving Paris business.
