For the reader x hero one-shots. I'm going to give the main character the name Grace just because I think it's easier to write when they have a set name. Feel free to mentally supplement your name in for hers.
I came home late at night. I was pulling a late night writing spree at work and had finally lost my train of thought and gone home.
I got to the apartment to see Steve standing on the island, his hands to his face. I cracked up and he glared at me. He was really cute then. All big and muscular, looking terrified.
"Spider?" I ask, already knowing. He nods and sits down, knowing I'd take care of it.
I take a tissue and find the brown recluse. It was bigger than the previous ones.
"They only started showing up when Nat joined a few years ago. And now there's even more with Pete here." He says. I throw away the tissue with spider guts on it.
"You're safe now Stevie." I say, smiling. He hesitantly gets off the counter. I pull him to me and kiss his lips softly. "I'll protect you." I say with a childish grin.
He smiles and relaxes.
"It's just spiders." He says. "Only spiders." He refers proudly to the small list of the things he's scared of.
"I know, I know." I say.
