"You can't just not like Christmas. Everyone likes Christmas," she said as she pulled her hat over her ears and put on mittens.
He trudged glumly behind her.
"What about Jews and Gypsies?"
"Are you a Jew or Gypsy?"
"No."
"Then leave it to the Jews and Gypsies whether they want to like Christmas or not," she took his hand and they walked together in the evergreen forest.
"For the record, I'm not enjoying this."
"So you've said," she mumbled. "Come on, just up here."
She took him to the top of the snow-covered, forested hill.
She leaned back in the snow. He slowly gave in, laying beside her.
"Why do you hate Christmas so much?" she asked and set her head on his chest.
"Because there were too many lonely ones, too many ones without the people i love," she nestled into him with this.
"Well you aren't lonely anymore. And you won't lose me," she spoke, he kissed her head.
"Merry Christmas," he whispered.
"Merry Christmas."
Scott
"Come on!" she howled as she ran down the stairs, skipping the bottom two. She looked back up to see her very tired boyfriend barely half way. "Scott," she whined.
"Lets get coffee," he insisted.
"No! Christmas only comes once a year and I want to spend it here," she climbed to meet him and took his hand. She hurried him down the stairs and into the main living room.
Everywhere, kids. Kids played with each other, using powers or simply playing games like tag. Kids sitting quietly, awaiting present-time. Kids eating breakfast at the table.
And of course, the agents. The agents all in pajamas and slippers. The agents eating, gossiping about what they got others. The agents waiting to splurge.
Scott picked up to cups from the table and poured coffee into them, he handed her one as they sat on the floor near the fire.
She looked up at the tree, wonderfully decorated by every X-Men (scaling from little Andy who was only three to Professor Xavier himself).
Her eyes wandered to the presents that lay under and around it. All in perfect wrapping and bows.
"Merry Christmas!" Xavier wheeled into the room.
"Merry Christmas!" everyone echoed. He smiled and made his way to the tree.
"Is everyone ready for their presents?" everyone cheered 'yes,' the agents all smiled as the children's laughs and cheers rose.
"Okay, I'll read names aloud then," he picked up the first present. "The first present goes to Andy."
He handed it to the side and it slowly made its way to the small toddler who giggled.
"Mary, Jill, Ramon..."
Finally, "Scott."
She elbowed him in the stomach and handed him the gift.
"From Grace," he smiled softly.
He opened it to find a new pair of sunglasses, "Oh, Grace. You shouldn't have. These are great."
She smiled as he pulled her close and kissed her.
"I'm glad we didn't go out for coffee."
"Me too," she said.
Wade
"You're not allowed to vigilante on holidays," she stood in front of the door.
"Babe, come on. The chick needs my help, I told her I would take the guy out-"
"No. You get everyday, every week. I get Christmas," she stated. He peeled his mask off and kissed her forehead.
"I'll be back in twenty. I promise."
"Fine. But I get the last cookie."
"Ugh the last cookie?" he whined as she moved. "You're killing me smalls."
"Shut up, and go kick some ass," she smacked his ass and he left.
She immediately ran into the bathroom, drawing back the curtain and pulling wrapped boxes out of the dry tub.
She carried them in her arms to the tree and set them around. She then stood and searched the entire flat for his presents to her.
She found nothing.
Not a single bag, not a single box, nothing.
She sank into the couch, "He didn't get me anything."
She tried to remind herself that Christmas was about being with who you love, spending quality time, and being happy with what you have.
But seriously nothing?
The door opened and she didn't move as she heard him walk into the room.
"Babe?"
"What?" she hissed too sharply. She stood and faced him. Her jaw dropped.
He stood in his red suit, with the mask on the couch. His arms filled to the brim with gift bags from stores she adored.
"What's wrong?" he asked her. "Are you mad at me?"
He set the things down by the tree.
"No," she uttered. "I mean I was, I searched the whole apartment for your presents and I didn't find anything and I thought you forgot and I was mad and..."
"Grace," he chuckled. "You really thought I wouldn't get you anything?"
"It seemed like it..."
"And you really thought I'd fight crime on my off-day?"
"You said..."
"Sh," he hushed her quickly. He wrapped his arms around her. "I'd never."
