Dear Veronica,
If you're wondering if I'm still embarrassed, yes I am.
I don't think you'll ever look at me the same way again and it is ashaming. It was a Saturday and of course no one does their homework as soon as they go home (well, except for Andrew) so I was planning to enjoy the hell out of my weekend until 7PM, Sunday.
Believe me I tried to delay beginning my homework (once I started it at 11PM) and I fell asleep while doing it. Luckily that time, the teacher was absent. Couldn't bet on my luck again. It's too risky and a bad remark is the last thing I want.
So... Early Saturday evening, as soon as it was five, I asked Mum if I could go to the park. I was sure she was going to say no, cause she was giving me looks like 'I-never-expected-you-to-go-out-of-your room-and-admire-nature' and after a good two minutes of that, she nodded, telling me to be safe and stray safe of dogs.
I told her I knew and a small dog won't scare me.
She laughed on my face to that. The weather was pleasant today. There were a hell lot of clouds in the air and a slight breeze danced around. My kind of weather. I don't like weather that is too extreme.
I plugged earphones into my ears and played the playlist named 'calming songs'.
First song was 'Rap God'.It was times like these that I observed my surroundings... How people were like. The park was just a twenty minute walk away from home but the park was huge so I didn't mind the walk.
I saw two children playing with stones on the side, their mothers gossiping on the front porch. Typical. A little further a vendor was arguing with a customer, something about the prices and not paying the exact price.
I saw a store with the sign - BUY TWO GET SIX FREE!*
What an offer! I looked below and saw - only on selected clothes that were worth 2000 a piece. Free clothes must be from a selected bundle. Not such a great offer then...
I saw a couple taking probably ridiculously sweet selfies and I got frustrated. When will I have someone like that? I couldn't bear it any longer. It sucked. Big time. All I wanted was to be with someone, love them, and treat them like a goddamn Queen.
*insert the #ForeverAlone memes here*In the park, I found a bench to sit on and listened to music while reading a book on Wattpad. At least I could read a book instead of cribbing about my problems.
I felt a scratch on my leg. I looked down and it was the most adorable black pug I'd seen. I smiled involuntarily."Hello little guy," I scratched his ears, bending down. It still had a collar on. "Where are you from?" I asked, as if it'll reply to me.
"Sorry, child..." I heard and looked up. It was an elderly woman, holding a leash, panting slightly and offering a small lopsided apologetic smile, "Jimmy here... Has the tendency of getting a little too over excited when he's in this area of the park."
"Oh?" I asked, suddenly being interested in the dog. "Why this area... In particular?""Well," she said, leaning down to attach the leash to the collar, "I truly don't know, but I think it has something to do with the fountain here..." She said, looking at the fountain, "And the bush here. He always pees here. It's his favourite spot."
A laugh escapes me as I look at the bush 5 metres away from me. The old lady smiled and apologised again.
"No, aunty, it's perfectly alright. I love dogs."Lie. I wasn't too good with pets and the only reason I didn't freak put because of Jimmy was because Jimmy was a harmless little pug and he didn't do anything abusive towards me.
My phone began ringing. It was Andrew.
"Hey," I said.
"Sebastian, thank god."
"What happened? Everything alright?"
"I've been trying to call you since the past ten minutes."
"Well... I didn't receive any calls. You know your house has the shittiest network right?"
I could feel him nod on the other side. "Bro, why the fuck did you call? All okay?"
"I need your Social project."
"..."
"Sebastian?"
"..."
"Hello?"
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! You call and talk to me as if you've just sawed your leg off! Couldn't the project wait?"
"Seb, I..."
"NO YOU WAIT. IT IS SATURDAY EVENING. NOT MONDAY MORNING. AND THE PROJECT ISN'T DUE UNTIL TUESDAY. WHY THE FUCKING HURRY?!"
"OH, GOD SEB DO YOU HAVE THE PROJECT OR NOT?!"
