Okay, I'm nervous about this next chapter.
I want to give out a WARNING before you begin to read; this next chapter is...intense and a bit graphic, and can be upsetting to some readers. So, without further ado, here's the next chapter.Christine stayed with Stevie that night. After a while Stevie had run out of tears to cry.
Stevie just laid there in Christine's arms; not daring to let go. Unless it was to run to the bathroom to throw up into the toilet bowl.
Stevie didn't think anything of it, thinking it was due to the wine she drank and all the crying she had done.A week later, Stevie still was throwing up and now at all hours of the day. She was becoming more and more exhausted, not understanding what was going on with her. She was hesitant to see her doctor.
Mick came over to visit Stevie to check on her; knowing she was feeling under the weather. He brought her some homemade chicken noodle soup.
After knocking, a few long seconds later, Stevie opened the door. She was still in a nightgown, with her robe hanging open. Her hair was sticking out of her bun, she had dark circles under her eyes.
Mick was very concerned for her. It took a bit of convincing but she agreed to finally see her doctor.
Karen had been running around doing some errands for Stevie; Mick drove her as soon as she got dressed. They sat in the waiting room quietly; Stevie was feeling extremely nervous.
A few minutes ticked by and Stevie heard her name being called.
Stevie looked at Mick and he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze.
She stood up and walked through the door and followed the nurse and followed her into an exam room. After answering the doctor's questions, he checked her blood pressure and ordered for the nurse to draw some blood from her.
"Now, we can have the results from your blood test in thirty minutes or so, our lab for once isn't backed up. If you would like you can go and come back or you can wait here?"
"I'll wait here. Oh! Could the gentleman I came here with me be here with me? Please."
"Of course, I'll have the nurse bring him to you." Said the doctor with a smile and walked out the door.A few minutes later, a nurse opened the door and Mick walked through it. He had a worried look on his face.
Stevie smiled a small smile. "I have to wait a bit for the results. I didn't want to be alone."
Mick smiled and sat on the chair by the exam table.
Mick did a good job at distracting her; he told some jokes and made her smile and laugh. She was glad Mick was there with her. Finally, the doctor came in holding a folder that held her results. Stevie took Mick's hand in hers and he held on, waiting, not knowing for what was to come.
He looked them over with a straight face then looked up with smile and said. "Congratulations to the both of you! Stephanie, you're pregnant."
Stevie stared at her doctor with wide eyes, Mick's mouth hung open, both too shocked to correct him about congratulating the both of them.
"I...I'm pregnant." Stevie finally said tears escaping from her eyes and a smile on her face.
"Do you know how far along you could be?" The doctor asked.
Stevie didn't have to think too hard. "About eight maybe nine weeks."
The doctor became serious then and spoke to her about being careful with her pregnancy.Because of her age she would need to see him more often than most women who are younger.
After having a serious talk with her, he smiled again and said. "Would you like to see your baby?"
Stevie nodded too emotional to speak.
Mick stood up and asked if he should step out but Stevie quickly asked him to please stay.
He sat back down and nodded. The nurse wheeled in an ultrasound machine.
The doctor asked Stevie to lift up her blouse. She did what he asked and he squeezed some type gel onto her abdomen.
Once again she asked Mick for his hand, he took her hand and noticed how nervous she was, her hand was sweaty but he didn't mind.
