April 16~ Youngwoon aka Kangin returned after two years of mandatory military service.
May 9~ "Opera" album release, the group's third Japanese single.

May 20~ SMTown Live World Tour III (2012-2013) commencement in Anaheim, California.

July 1~ Online release of "Sexy, Free & Single", the sixth studio album.
July 3~ "Sexy, Free & Single" mv release.

July 4~ Release of "Sexy, Free & Single", the sixth studio album (version 'A')

The album sold 335 744 units within the first month of its release, 459 182 in only two months (July-August), and 356,431 units in year 2012. The album ranked high in iTunes in several countries including Australia, France, Peru and Japan, ranked 3rd on Billboard World Albums, debuted at 1st place on the South Korean Gaon Chart, stayed on the chart as number one for three weeks in a row, debuted at 1st on Gaon Album Chart. The album was placed 1st for several weeks on Taiwan KKBOX K-Pop chart having all album songs charted.
July 16~ Release of version 'B' of "Sexy, Free & Single", the sixth studio album. The cover was made differently than in version A.
August 3~ "SPY" teaser release.

October 30~ Jeongsu aka Leeteuk left for mandatory military service.

October 31~ Release of "World Tour SS 4 Live In Japan" Concert album.
November 19-21~ Super Junior KRY Special Winter Concert in Yokohama. The concert was held for a total audience of 15 000 fans. The tickets were sold out in a few seconds.
