Hotel lobby, red recliner chair by the window.

Our hotel is a massive modern looking building from the outside. My home for the next 6 days.

The inside of the hotel looked almost as grand as the outside. Complete with large windows overlooking the sea, a comfy seating area, a stylish bar and in the air was a warm smell of gingerbread cookies.

That's when another hotel attendant approached us with a tray in which lied several gingerbread men. I generously helped myself to 3 and accepted the hot chocolate they offered too.

They were behind delicious. It was a nice and warm feeling. Perfect contrast to the chilly winter air outside...

Dad was at the check-in counter while we drank and ate. He was talking to the man behind the counter when he stopped and beckoned us to come over.

When we reached he said to my mom in an angry hushed tone, "They have only king size beds available. How are we all supposed to fit in? They don't even have a room available in which two can fit. One of us will have to sleep alone-"

"I volunteer!" I say without hesitating because dude, imagine THAT.

My mom nodded her head like she thought it was a good idea  but my dad frowned. "I don't know..." He said, "teenage girl alone in her room..."

My mom rolled her eyes, "Don't be absurd Frank. Jade will be just fine. Besides, it's not in the Huntington women genes to be attracted to Chinese men."

"Mom" I hissed. "Racist alert."

"What? It's true!"

My dad turned to the counter, "Are you sure you have no other option?"

The man nodded and then apologized.

"This is outrageous. I had bookings." My dad said in an angry tone.

The man on the counter said simply, "We ran out of Queen beds sir. We are very sorry."

"Dad" I said, tugging on his jacket, "It's okay. I'll be good. I promise."

Hah, like that's going to happen.

He sighed and reluctantly nodded his head, booking the rooms.

Oh. My. gosh this is going to rock! ME, ALONE, in my very own hotel room! With my very own bathroom! YIPPPEEE. Finally, something that went right...
Maybe if I play this right, I could avoid my family for most of the trip..oh the joy of that.

Here comes another attendant who's going to lead us to our rooms. CANT WAIT!!!

Hotel room

This room is just magnificent.

A plush king sized bed, mahogany desk, flat screen tv, comfy velvet red couch, and a window with a view overlooking the vast ocean.

Oh and the bathroom! A grand bathtub with a large mirror and fancy shower.

Okay maybe this trip won't be that bad as I think it will be.

Like, maybe I can just spend all my time in the hotel room, video calling with my friends.

That reminds me, they video called 10 minutes back...

"Hey Jade!"

I saw my best friend's familiar face appear on the screen of my iPad.

"Hi Pete! How's everyone doing?"

I heard a muffled scream from the background and then my other friend, Naomi, burst out laughing.

Peter appeared to be sitting in the backseat of the vehicle. Naomi's cheerful familiar face appeared next to him. "HEY BOO!" She screamed and started laughing again. It seemed like someone was tickling her "James STOP IT!" She screamed and was out of the screen again.
