Mom jerked my head up by my chin looking at my face. She was again looking over the bruises I came home with after school.
"Sonic! Look at that bruise on the side of your face!!" She cried, "You are not telling me that its dirt this time mister!" She rubbed her thumb over it roughly making me flinch from the pain.
"Ouch! Mom!" I whined trying to pull away.
"No your father is going to see this! And then both of us are escorting you to school tomorrow and will have a meeting with the principal. I'll go to every class if I have to young man this isn't happening anymore!"
My eyes shrunk, junior year in high school and having my mother with me in every class everywhere I go!? Don't get me wrong I love my mother to death. But you just shouldn't have them holding your hand at school like that.
"No mom please! It was just an accident!" I said trying to make her reconsider.
"Accident my behind! Jules!!" She called for my dad. Dad came in as soon as she called. His metal feet clicked the floor. Dad was put in the robotasizor to keep alive from the Great War he was so badly injured. But his robot body took a toll on his emotional states. He's detached, he goes through all the motions of caring for me and mom but I don't think he really actually and truly feels the emotion. However deep down I've convinced myself that, somewhere in that metal frame his mind and heart are still itself and he does love and care for us, even if he can't express it fully with his metallic body.
"I'm fine dad I swear." I said turning to him. Being part robot has its downfalls... Well if you’re on my end of the stick. He can sense your vitals and determine if you’re lying or not by how elevated your heart rate might or might not be.
"It wasn't an accident Son." He said putting his hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off and went up to my room, "call me when dinner is done." I grumbled.
In my room I looked in the mirror of my big dresser across the bed. I rubbed my fingers over the black and blue on my cheek. Damn it that red streaked asshole gone and done it now.
That's it, I told myself, no more. I'm not staying quite about it anymore and he's going to get what's coming for him. And if I am faced in a situation where I meet him on the streets alone, I'll fight until one of us is incapable of doing so.
"Sonic honey dinner is ready!" My mom called up to me. Gathering my nerve I got up and trotted down the stairs meeting mom and dad at the table. Mom had our salad set out on the plates with the pain course of chicken rice and green beans in the middle; except for dad's his was of course empty. He can't eat but he sits with us at the table.
I sat down and sighed softly.
"You're feeling distressed Sonic, what's the matter?" Dad asked.
"Don't be afraid to tell us anything honey, you know we only want to help." Mom looked at me while she poked leafs of lettuce on her fork.
"I know I know." I grumbled, "Look you guys, there's this kid... Well he's not really a kid kid..." I grumbled at lack of explaining words.
"Relax." Dad said, "We understand. Another student you mean?"
"Yeah. He's a senior. He's kinda the pack leader when it comes to stuff like this, which is if someone rats on him they'll have to deal with probably half the school out to murder them!" I said.
"So is it just this one student?" Mom asked.
"Well mainly yes, there's been several trips in the hallway by his circle of friends but, nothing serious... Not like he does." I said, "His name is Shadow. And I've been labeled as his personal punching bag."
"Don't worry about a thing sweet heart Mommy and daddy will take care of everything." She said.
I was glad they were willing to help, but I just had a feeling I dug myself a grave.
