Welcome Aboared ARK

We boarded the ARK the electricity could be heard surging through the huge structure. It was a bit creepy, its age couldn’t be defined since there was no weathering to make it age up in space, but the technology and materials to build it gave away the age by themselves. It was dead quiet, with the exception of the surging energy and a few lights flickering and made a ‘ticking’ noise.

“This place has a strange vibe to it.” Mom whispered in the silence hugging my dad tightly.

“I’m picking up multiple signals as if there are other bodies within the same room… although the place is old and it could be the unstable electric currents giving off their own signal.” Dad looked around the huge front lobby.

“I don’t like it.” Mom squeaked, “It looks like it could be infested with some space creature like that Aliens movie.”

There was a light ‘ding’ like an elevator, or it is an elevator and the doors opened and Shadow stepped out with a cup and a oatmeal bar.

“Shadow!” I waved.

“Hey! Sorry to keep you all waiting, I was finishing up last minute perorations, and forgot to eat…” He held up the last of the bar and popped it in his mouth. He seemed so relaxed in this creepy place, more relaxed than he was down on land.

“Are you alright to work?” Dad asked tilting his head.

“Of course! I’m so excited can’t you tell?” Shadow said plainly sipping on the cup which seemed to hold coffee.

“When was the last time you got sleep?” Dad tapped his foot.

“Sleep is for saps.” Shadow grumbled, “I’m fine.”

I looked between Dad and Shadow could he tell he was sleep deprived again? It must be emitting with his body signals but he kept calm on the outside not even signs of dark circles or sagging in his eyes.

“Well, uh nice place you have here.” Mom said still keeping close to dad and said it more like a hint of how uncomfortable it was.

“Welcome aboard the Space Colony ARK. More than 2,000 people inhabited it 50 years prior to today. It was a research facility and weapon of mass destruction, only to protect Mobius of outside attacks before they had a chance to actually enter the atmosphere.” Shadow lightly bowed, “She’s not all what she used to be, but she still has the ability to amaze.”

“This is where you were, uh made?” I asked.

“Yep down in the main lab. But I try not to go in there anymore. Unfortunately that won’t be the case today.” He waved us over, “follow me please.”
