Our Last Day

The snow had us all closed away in our cabins even by the last day of the trip. However that didn’t stop our group from having fun.

“Tada! How do you like our snow (wo)man boys?” Rouge and Blaze stepped away from a snowman.

“It had boobs.” Knuckles blushed.

“That’s because it’s a woman!” She declared.

“So then it would be fine if the snowman had a boner?”  Knuckles smiled back.

“No silly, it’s much too cold to have one. It shrank up so far inside of him that he might as well grow some tits as well.~”

Knuckles was speechless his eyes showed utter shock and confusion.

Espio bundled in thick coats and blankets and mittens looked at the jumping whales in the lagoon not even a little fazed by the snowy weather. I told him the story of the constellation in the sky that Shadow had passed on to me.

“Shadow!” Rouge called as he walked out of the cabin in his green jacket. She hurled a snow ball at him and laughed.

He grit his teeth glaring back at her, “What are you doing?”

She giggled and tossed another one at him.

“Hey stop it!” ducked.

“What’s a mater? Never played in the snow?” Silver asked putting his hands in his pockets.

“No.” Shadow grumbled, “I don’t have time to play-“ Another snow ball this time delivered by Knuckles, who then took cover behind the snowman. I don’t know if they’re trying piss him off on purpose but it sure is working.

He dodged another from Blaze.

“CUT IT OUT!!” He yelled.

Espio and I walked over to meet him.

“Have Maria ever witnessed the snow?” Espio asked. The question hit him like a smack to the face.

His ears went back looking to be off in another dimension, a sad dimension… I wish I knew what he’d been thinking now. He was interrupted by Espio duping a handful of snow on his head and gave a cheeky grin. “Don’t you think she’d want you to enjoy it?”

“It’s only frozen water…” He grumbled dusting off the snow from his head.

“Well just like the stars, each snow flake is different.” He explained.

“Oh Shadow, won’t you make a snow angel for me?” Rouge said in a little girl’s voice, I assume trying to imitate whatever Maria must have sounded like.

Shadow’s quills spiked getting so angry he looked around and finally leaned down bunching up snow and ‘poof’ socked it to the white bat like a professional baseball pitcher. He threw it so hard she flopped backwards and landed on her bum.

“Whoa!” Knuckles ran over to her, “Jeez Shadow think you could have thrown any harder?”

“Tch, you want to find out?” He looked down at his hands wondering what he just did.

Rouge stood up her face red with anger, “So that’s how you want to play.” She scooped up another snowball and sent it flying so hard it whistled in the air and smacked Shadow hard in the chest and made him stumble back and hit against the cabin.

I thought for sure he’d break out in a rain of chaos spears at her but he picked himself up and smiled.

“A-are you okay?” I asked looking him over.
