I walked home all the way in thought, how was I going to convince my parents to let me go on this trip in such short notice?

I walked through the door still thinking pretty hard. I forgot to greet my parents as I sat my back pack down and sat on the couch.

“Sonic is that you?” My mother called from the next room.

“What’s a matter son had a bad day?” Dad asked tugging on my ear softly. I broke from my thoughts that made me scrunch my eyes looking at the floor trying to visualize the outcome.

“Wha, no it was good! I was just thinking is all.”

“Oh about what??” Dad asked sitting next to me.

“Well…” I scratched my head, I hadn’t really came up with a good intricate way of bribing them yet but here goes nothing, the worst that could happen is if they say ‘no.’ right? “There’s this trip that my friends are going on next week. It’s sort of last minute but they asked if I could go with them.”

“What kind of trip?” Mom asked coming in the living room and rest on the back of the couch. “Oh it’s like a camping trip.”

“Next week? Isn’t there school next week?” Dad asked.

“Yes, I mean it’s a senior trip… and I’m only a junior but one of my senior friends asked if I could go with them, he’d pay for it.”

“Camping is really fun.” Dad nodded in thought.

“Oh that’s very nice of him, but will he still have time on such a short notice?” Mom asked with a frown.

I flattened my ears, would it be right to say he’d already paid for it? It would give off the idea I had told them yes before I asked permission, and not only that been then they’d feel like they would have to let me go. “I’m sure he could manage…” I answered.

“Well… if you think he could then I don’t see a problem with it.” Mom said, “Do they need any chaperons? Your father or I could go as one.”

Mom and Dad chaperoning a senior trip, and with Shadow there too!? “NO!” I yelped just visualizing what could happen, “No it’s fine really they have all the chaperones they need.” I chuckled nervously hoping they wouldn’t insist.

“I don’t know… are there going to be girls?” Dad nudged me.

“Yes, why not?” I said raising a brow.

“Hmmm….” He grumbled, “Honey are you really sure you gave him ‘the talk’ right??”
