The agony of waiting to hear back from Tails had every hour drag by like snail in the winter. It was even painful to sit through the class glancing at the clock to see not even a minute passed by!! This went on until 5th period, when finally my cell phone vibrated in my back pack on the floor. I slipped it out while the teacher’s back was turned and had to deny the call before I was caught. However I rose my hand and asked to go to the bathroom. Given the bathroom pass I darted out the door and didn’t even wait to be in the safety of the bathroom to call the number back.

“Sonic?” Tails answered, “Was you in class?”

“Yeah sorry about that, but did you get something?!” I asked quickly.

“I did. Shadow’s been moved to Prison Island, where he was kept dormant for the first fifty years of his life after he fell from ARK.”

“That’s the place they keep Al Capone like criminals!” I couldn’t help my voice squeaking with such shock. Did they believe Shadow was really THAT dangerous?! …Or maybe he is, but he’s not shown his full hostile abilities. 

“Well Sonic, he’s a weapon of mass destruction, where would you suggest they keep him; a kiddy park?” Tails said sarcastically.

“No, but I wouldn’t want him there either…. What’s the deal why did he get taken out of school?”

“He’s on trial. Apparently this was only a test, to see he could be allowed in a public environment and to interact with the general public without any sporadic explosions on humanity.”

The government enrolled what they believe is a highly dangerous being into a high school for a science test!?! What if Shadow really was not sound of mind and he ended up blowing the school so smithereens!? All because of an experiment that no one was informed about, they’d have a cover up story lined up incase anything happened… it was a bomb threat that came true or something in that neighborhood. Did they not care that there were thousands of future generation lives that could have been lost?!! What is the GUN thinking?!?!

“Sonic??” Tails asked after my silent ranting to myself.

“I’m still here…”

“Oh. Yeah Shadow’s going on trial, if he passes he’ll be re-enrolled in school and given the freedom to live amongst us in the public. If he fails, he’ll be detained on Prison Island or even ‘put down’ given the case of severity his behavior is.”

“What they might kill him!?”

“Well not exactly, but they’ll put him in his state of dormancy that he had been in for the first years of his life… you know if you would have read the files like I told you to do, I wouldn’t have to explain so much.”

“Yeah yeah I know.” I grumbled. What am I going to do… I might never see Shadow again. I bet the government is planning on keeping him hostage… that’s why they’re not notifying anyone, not even Rouge of the plan. Unless this is top secret and Rouge isn’t even allowed to speak of it… damn the government and its secrets.

“What can I do Tails? I can’t have them lock him away…”

“Why what’s the big deal?”

I sighed, that’s right, he doesn’t know. Well he’s just going to have to know now… I can trust him, he’s like a little brother to me… he’s family. “I love him.”

There was silence on his end.

“T-Tails?”

“You… like him? As in like… love like him?” He spoke again.

“Yes Tails! I’m serious with this. I admit, he used to be mean and hurt me all the time, but he’s changed.”

“Oh flaming chaos Sonic, those guys never change! You sound like an abused house wife Sonic get it together! I don’t care if you like another man, but not SHADOW! He’s engineered to be cruel and mean, it’s hardwired into him all the way down to his DNA. He can’t change that’s who he is, destruction. Why do you think he’s on Prison Island?!?!”
